So I'm driving around in my Camaro, which I hadn't done in a long while since I have been driving my uncle's motorcycle around trying to get some motorcyling skills under my belt (going to buy a Hayabusa soon). Anyways, so I'm just cruising around town with the tops off, enjoying the nice warm night, when I see a big Porsche wing in front of me. Nice! I think to myself as I catch up slowly to him. I look on the back and see it is a GT3. Me and the guy get caught at a stop light next to each other, and I gesture for him to roll his window down. I notice it is an older man, maybe 40-50. So I figured we had a while before the light turned green, so I start a conversation with the guy.

Me: Nice car!
Him: Yeah, thanks, just got it a few weeks ago.
Me: Right on. You want to race?
Him: Yeah, sure. Is that a V8 or a V6?
Me: It's a V8, just installed my nitrous, but my bottle hasn't gotten filled yet (no pun intended)
Him: Right on, so we gonna' go on green?
Me: Nope, I'm gonna smash into these cars in the intersection as fast as I can (here's your sign).
Him: Huh? (With a confused look on his face)
Me: Nothin' go on green.
Him: Okay, good luck.

So at this time I am wishing my bottle was filled because I could have really used that extra 150HP seeing as how I was racing a $100,000 Porsche.

So I turn my traction control off and get ready for the biggest ass-whipping of my life at the hands of some old man who has probably never taken the car above 60 miles an hour. I rev up and wait for the light to strike green.

Once the light hit green, I proceed to slip the clutch. I figured my only chance at getting any kind of lead on this guy would be out of the hole. Sure enough, I gain a very slight lead on the guy out of the hole. I assumed his traction control was on, or he bogged, because he zoomed past me faster than Michael Jackon on his way to a little league tournament. Once he put a car on me, I just stopped, figuring it wasn't worth my time.

I turned into a McDonald's parking lot and decided to drown my sorrows in a delicious fruit and yogurt parfait.

Man, I wish my car wasn't so slow:banghead:

From what i've seen in the rags Porsche most likely underrated their horsepower, cause the GT3 is faster then a C5 Z06, despite having 25hp less, and being almost the same weight.

I wouldn't feel ashamed to lose to it, even with the nitrous on. I believe they run low 12's stock.

Nice loss. Those are beautiful cars. Some kid at my last job brought his dad's in, to detail it. Needless to say, after playing plenty of San Andreas, temptation was great.

The new 997 GT3's make 415hp from the I believe the 3.8L Flat-6... So, they make more than a C5 Z06.

They certainly are one badass car... just ask Igor about them... he races against them in his GT-R in the World Speed Challenge.

Ummmm.... Something about it being the fastest things on wheels just calls to me... It won't be my first bike though. I will probably buy a CBR600 and ride around on that until I get good, not that it is that much less of a death wish...

I do realize that I will kill myself on the Hayabusa. There is no doubt in my mind, and I am dead serious, that I will die while on that bike. I'm not gonna' be like everyone else and say "oh, I won't crash". I realize full well that this bike will be the end of me... Hopefully it just happens later rather than sooner.

Atleast you realize it. I bet you'll see that GT3 again. Pretty hard car no to miss, right? Be sure to have the bottle strapped and waiting next time you cruise around...or just stalk the guy, find where he lives, set up a camera, so when you see him take out the car, you're ready...not that I have ever done that or anything...:uhoh:

fast yes it is but to say its the fastest no its not......the kawasaki zx-12R eats that bike up for breakfast....and the new zx-14 that came out this year is now the fastest production bike out with close to 190hp to the wheels and it could corner like a 600cc bike....I dont know if you know anything about bikes but the busa is a sport touring bike and is only good straight line....a 600cc bike out eat that up in the twisties....and yes you are right on another thing you would kill yourself if you get something like that...

DinanM3_S2
05-17-2006, 06:26 PM
Most sport bikes are faster then Dodge Vipers, the tomahawk was a wierd 4 wheeled motorcycle-esque vehicle that had the Viper's engine.

I'm pretty sure that the 996 GT3 did not have traction control, so the driver must have bogged. Clutches arn't cheap when the come from Germany.

Buy a GSX750. I've heard alot of people speak accolades about those bikes. I believe they're not much slower then the Busa, and they are alot easier to hit corners with, being lighter and all.

If I had the money i'd buy a Honda CBR600F4i.

Nope, it was a naked design... no fairing at all. I remember they claimed it had the power to do "250mph" or something rediculous.

But, you try and hold on to this at those speeds.

Meh, not me. I think the Busa's are the ugliest bike out there. The rear fender how it curves is just butt ugly. I would keep the CBR and never look back unless I was getting a 1000. But as said, those 600's are simply kick ass in the twisties and IMO would be way more fun to ride.

But anyway, nice death. Never really stood a chance.

The 997 Carrera Turbo, or simply the Turbo, just came out... along with the new 997 GT3.

It makes some 480hp out of its 3.8L Flat-6 Twin turbo mill... with AWD to harness it all. It's a force to be reckoned with, not to mention a 'overboost' button that allows 20 seconds of excessive boost to bring her above 500hp... you know, for passing that slow moving Ferrari ahead of you on the Autobahn.

Me too, so which 911's are the turbo'ed ones, I know some are, is there any way to tell by badging like the GT2, GT3, Carrera S, or what.

Oh wait I think I remember seeing one that said "Turbo S" on the back, is that the only 911 that comes turbo'ed??

So are all Carrera's 911's or are all 911's Carrera's, is the 997 a Carrera or just a completely different model. for some reason I can never understand Porsche's lineup, they need to make it easy like Nissan did with the Skyline, GTS, GTS-T, GT-R, that I get, but when it comes to Porsche I'm

Theres a great Top Gear clip where Jeremy tries to explain the Porsche 911 lineup.

This is how the 996 generation looked like-
911 Carrera- base model, n/a, rwd
911 Carrera S- just like the base model, but with a bigger engine and stiffer suspension
911 Carrera 4- same engine as the Carrera, but with AWD
911 Carrera 4S- same engine as the Carrera S, but with AWD
911 GT3- n/a 381hp 3.6l, RWD
911 Turbo- turbocharged, AWD, 415hp
911 Turbo S- just like the regular Turbo but a little stronger
911 GT2- turbocharged, RWD, 485hp

The 997 lineup looks about the same except with no Turbo S or GT2 (yet), and a bit more power.

Then everyone will start calling him out.
