Anyone with a B4C Camaro here?
I have a quick question that I need answered.
Does your car also show Z28 on your SPID?

most of the 1992 camaro RS B4C'S went to the police departments. there was only 550 of them made. they had the 305 tip engine with posi trac. rear end. but not a Z28 look! they looked like a just another RS. they where far from it. good luck. Joey

I'm pretty sure that it was the same as a z28, only badged as an RS. Pretty sure it had a L98 too.

Yeah it was basicly a Z28 with RS badges.. I saw one recently over here when I was filling up my Monte Carlo.. it looks weird because the white is on the hood roof and back and the rest is black.. you can tell its a cop because it has the spot lights on em..

Thanks guys. I guess I should be more specific.
How about someone with a more recent body style? I'm looking at a 2000 model. I need to know if your B4C Camaro also has Z28 on the SPID.

i don't believe z28 appears on the rpo stickers of b4c camaros even though they have z28 equipment.
91-92 b4c had the TPI350/auto or TPI305/5 speed combos
93-97 b4c had LT1/auto
98-02 b4c had LS1/auto

on the 91-92's that I have seen the TPI305/auto seems to be around 70% of the 5~~.

91-92 B4C never had the 305TPI/auto. they had a choice between 305TPI/5speed and 350TPI/auto

Interesting. I have been pricing a new car for myself to drive to work. I want something more fun than my 86 Caprice.
Insurance cost is a concern. So I have been checking with the agent. I looked at a 97 z28. The price was the highest of anything I looked at so far, even more than the BWMs and MB cars of the same age.
The agent told me it was because of the dreaded "Z28". So now I have found several B4Cs.... Since they don't have the dreaded "Z28", they shooouulldd be cheaper to insure. Right??

well..... most insurance companies go by the VIN. lets use a newer b4c as an example. u could tell them its just a base coupe but when they see a VIN that shows an LS1, then they might think its a Z28.

I'm hoping that will work. :grinyes:
It did with my W41. They made no mention of the W41 or 442.
They checked the VIN and it came back as a base Calais S.
Saves me some $$$ every year.

just depends on the company i guess. u might even be able to insure one under collector car insurance like grundy or hagerty ( i know one has no model year or mileage limitations).

I thought on the spid it would say b4c instead of z28. It doesnt really have the z28 package just mostly the drivetrain right?

Oh yea, forgot about the 4th gen B4C, I been dealing with third gens just too much latley. As for the RPO, it should say B4C where it would otherwise say Z28.

it is basically a z28, suspension and all. on third gens, b4c included 305TPI/5speed or 350TPI/auto, 16inch wheels w/ 245/50R16's, 4 wheel discs, dual converter exhaust, posi rear, oil cooler, high output alternator (140 or 150 amp i think), heavy duty battery, and A/C.
LT1 and LS1 b4c's got similar equipment + heavy duty electrical system and trans cooler for the automatic cars. they may have gotten 1LE sway bars too but im not sure. anyone know if the speedo's in b4c's were police certified like the ones in caprices and crown vics?
