hey, what is a good, cheap supercharger to get for a 93 mustang, and how much boost would b safe on a completely stock engine with 65,000 miles, cuz i know the 93 arent as strong as the older models lacking the forged pistons and all. thanks

I'd suggest the first kit Vortech S-trim, or the second kit Vortech SQ-trim. The only difference is the SQ will have a little quieter operation. They are both the same price.
Stay away from the powerdyne units, that have an internal belt driving them where the others are gear driven. The belts are bad to break inside the powerdynes.
The Paxton Novi 1000 is the cheapest but will provide minute gains compared to the S-trim.

thanks man, i was thinkin bout gettin that powerdyne one too cuz its so cheap. Now would a supercharger be safe to run on my stock engine or will it tear the shit outta it, cuz my friend told me the boost of the supercharger will kill my internals.

Don't get one. I've heard too many bad reviews of stuff coming loose and getting sucked up into the engine. Vortech may cost more but they are well known and many Mustang guys pick and like them.

Well it will to a degree. Your internals take more stress with boost, that's just how it is. With the miles on your engine though you could probably run 10-14 lbs. for a while. I wouldn't do this though unless you plan to re-build the engine down the road in a couple of years.

If you just want a little power though and also don't want to put much stress on the engine, between 5-8 lbs. is safe but will give your car a nice kick. For me, I think 6 lbs. is nice happy medium but that's me.

yea all i want is like 6-8 lbs of boost im not lookin for anything crazy, so the engine will stay good under that amount of boost. and also how is the novi 1000, cuz i saw the vortechs and i know there nice but there so damn expensive, the novi 1000 is a decent price.

I look at the Novi 1000 as = to Vortech's A-trim. Personally I'd rather spend a little more on something that is gonna give me what I want and has more room to play with. You might also look around on the corral or turbomustangs.com. Both places have a classifieds area where you can find S-trim kits for sale all the time.

thanks alot ppl, i think im deffinitly gonna spend the extra hundred bucks for a vortech and get the sc-trim, but i have one more question, i have the stock exhaust on it(except for flowmaster mufflers) would it be better for the engine or worse(too much back pressure) if i ran a supercharger with the stock headers and h-pipe, i know your supposed to do the exhaust first before any of the other things but i dont feel like spending 700 bucks on exhaust when i can save up alil more and get the supercharger.

I don't see anything wrong with it really. You'll lose power from it but I don't see it just being bad and tearing your engine up.

If you're worried though and want a cheap alternative, go to an exhaust shop. You could probably make your own exhaust for cheaper and have it exit sooner like side tips or something.

Thats what I'm doing. I'll buy better and quieter mufflers later on too. But right now I have BBK 351w/fox swap long tubes with 1 3/4" primaries & 3" collectors. I have 3" Dynomax race bullets right now and will be making my own 3" H-pipe. The mufflers will be welded to the beack of the H-pipe and I'll weld tips to the back of the mufflers to bring the exhaust out right at the back of the door. I know its gonna be loud..too loud. So Borla is probably gonna relace the bullets this winter.

A 351 Fox too loud? Huh? What is this "too loud" concept you talk about?

Well I'd like to be able to hear the blower at idle lol.

Eh, just bump up the boost to about 30 lbs. You should be able to hear it then over the exhaust. Everybody is happy with how it sounds then.

LOL. I probably will be buying a polished T or YS trim soon. Run probably 15-18 psi with a T or 12-15 psi with the YS. I know mu stock windsor crank and block are good to around 700-800rwhp but I dont wanna push it too much. People already tellin my is I make 12 psi with the S I'll put 600 on the ground.

That's pretty damn fast. You have any 1/4 mile times yet or have any guesses?

Well I've been talking to several people whp build 302/351's and race mustangs all the time. One guy is making 1177rwhp with a 302 cubic inch R block and a 88mm turbo @ 32psi. The other I'm not sure about his power numbers but he is running a Dart block 351w .030 with a Procharger F2 and I think last year his fastest run was 8.20 @ 170 or so. Both guys say I should make 600rwhp and with the suspension parts I have ect I should run 9.90's with a 1.39ish 60 foot time. I'm guessing about 138mph in the 1/4. I've seen dyno graphs from guys with stock short block 302's that have H/C/I and an S-trim running 13-14psi making 550ish rwhp, one guy had a 347 I think it was and made 598rwhp with an S-trim at 14psi. But my motor is a little bigger and I have heads bigger than his so I should make 12-13psi according to Vortech. I think I'll have a pretty fun dry road daily driver!
