Review mirror ready to fall off?

The '95 PA is now parked in the driveway, dispalced by the new car in the garage. It was kind of hot and sunny today, and when I got in I noticed the plastic channel that conceals the wires to the mirror electronics had popped free of the base mounted on the windshield. Seems that the adhesive holding the base had softened in the sun, and it won't be long till the mirror is dangling by the wires.
I've glued simple non-electronic mirrors on before, but I was wondering if I'm facing any special challenges with this one. Anyone here done one of these?
TIA

The auto-dimming mirror I put on came off a 91' Olds 98..it mounts the same as a standard mirror. Only difference is the plastic wire holder that runs up the windshield above the mirror and into the ceiling. All rear view mirrors I've seen, worked on or replaced have mounted the same with the windshield adhesive.
