an old/worn transmission is going to lose more then a fresh one, but for a street driven vehical, not enough to worrie about unless you feel a problem

if i dont feel a problem that doesnt mean that there isnt a problem. the clutches inside could be worn out and slipping all the time and i would never know

with the combo you have, you'd notice it slipping. All drivetrain components cause parasitic losses of power. An auto has a slightly higher loss due to the torque converter's mass compared to a clutch/pressure plate on a stick shift, and since an automatic is basically a hydraulic fluid pump, there are more frictional losses internally too.

thats playing the what-if game, although it is nice to have your vehical in mind, doing the PM on it is the best and cheepest way to keep it in good running order, its like saying, well my sb 350 is running good today, but what if the bearings are worn out...

stall converter, if the moter needs it, shift kit, kick down cable adjustments... thats about all i can think of, ive got no training or experence with transmissions, except the occasional fluid/filter exchange
