What is the difference exactly and is it noticable? How much time does it take off in the 1/4 mile as an estimate...

Are you talking about the "final drive gear"? Good for you to realize that it's not only how much power your engine puts out that counts.
It depends on what ratio you put in your tranny, it can greatly reduce your 1/4 mile time guarantee.

I believe your current ratio for the final drive gear is 4.400. Comparing to 4.785, it's a pretty good gain in accelaration and you will feel the difference before and after, but you will loose top speed for sure.
Keep in mind that it's going to cost a big chuck in labor to put that thing in, so if you plan to do it, make sure you make up your mind on changing the flywheel and clutch at the same time or not since you have the tranny out.
Anyway, I am just curious on how much are you getting the final drive gear for?
