Hey guess i need help understanding something...what does it mean to have your engine balanced and blueprinted?

Here is what i think it means...but have no idea. when you have your engine balanced its a machine procedure where they shave the tips of the connecting rods to balance out the movement...(am i close?) and blueprinting the only thing i can think of is showing what parts are where and the tourque down pressure...i fill like a newb ohh well...

anywho can someone explain this stuff to me and tell me how important it is to have done...seeing as all my parts for my engine are here and im ready to have it assembled (not doing it myself paying for the assembly now because only being charged 150$)

You're close on balance, it's making sure the whole rotating mass of the crank assembly (crank, rods & pistons) is in perfect balance.

Blueprinting is all the measurements, cylinder bores, journals, mains checked for out of round and tapper.

Thank you,

Another question i was wondering does anyone know the formula to figure out liters..my engine was a 6.6L 400 but with the bore and stroke i added to it its now a 472 but how do i figure out the liters?

Not that the literage matters, you can just tell people you have a badass 472.....here ya go (I hope this is right, diggin' back to HS math class)

472 c.i. x 16.39 c.i./cc= 7,736.08 cc

1 cc=1 mL

7,736.08 x 1 L/1000 mL= 7.73 liters or 1 big ass engine

Which would make sense I think since weren't the 455's advertised as 7.7 L?

Anyway hope that helped.

wow you went the hard way

easier for me is cubic inches (472) X .016386 + 7.73
