wiring for boat trailer

Would like to wire my 2001 Dakota to pull my boat trailer. When I looked undrneath could not find a pigtail to plug trailer wiring into. What is the proceedure for wiring in a pigtail or did I just not look hard enough. Thanks in advance KO
