Or if you are semi decent at electronics an old computer power supply will work. You just take the yellow and black (the black ones right by the yellow ones not by the red ones) wires on all the leads and strip them and hook em up. My brother has a VR3 amp that has a max of 300 watts being ran on it. And it never shuts down due to power shortage or anything.

how much amps is required to run a normal head unit? and in the future i may add a small amplifier to the setup. im pretty sure i will have to get another power supply for that. can u please tell me how much amps will be required for that. the amplifier will be around 400w peak.

I would go with the computer power supply. Costs alot less and just looks cooler.

thanks for that, i'll use a computer power supply. but will it be safe to operate compared to a dc power supply. and can you give me a few tips on wiring because a computer power supply looks complicated

I think want you're trying to ask is, how many amps does your equipment draw?
It'll run on less than 5a and your built in amp will draw more when it's needed....
It should by written on the FCC statement in the product literatue.

the FTC statements only apply to home stereo equipment, car stereo equipment is unregulated by any government agency.
