'85 - No Intermittent Wipers? Two-speed setup?

Hey all,

Got my '85 Z28 a few days ago... still playing with it. Noticed that my intermittent wiper settings do not work (when I turn off the wipers, they lift up an inch then park back down). Normal wiper settings do work, however.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

By the way, I just took off the black wiper motor thing, and didn't notice any electronic module - merely a white piece of plastic that has the wiper park and a winding on it. Does this mean it is a two-speed unit? If so, can I merely replace this with an intermittent unit, or do I have to replace the whole thing?

Sounds like someone replaced the turnsignal stalk/wiper control with one for an intermittent system when your car didn't have them.
To fix this you could install a wiper motor for intermittent wipers. May have to replace the mount too, I'm not sure.

Hey,

Well, this car came with intermittent wipers...but he changed the wiper motor not long before I got it, and this replacement one is probably a two-speed unit.

I am heading to the junkyard in a couple of weeks for some things for this car and others; I will pull an intermittent wiper motor while I am there and give it a shot... and I will let you know the results.

Thanks :)
