windows creaking

Hey there, I know there is a TSB out for this, but don't know what the fix is? When I power up the windows, they get to the top and then creeeek back down. This happens on 3 of the 4 windows. Drivers window makes a creek all the way up, sounds like something is dragging, but seals are soft and look OK. I'm also getting excessive wind noise from all 4 windows. How hard is it to "upgrade" to the newer door seals used in the newer models (mine is an '01, I drove an '05 and MUCH quieter). Thanks in advance!

I'm not really sure what to say other than take the door apart and look inside to see if everything is tight.

My '02 windows creak seating at the top of their run. The dealer should have info on a lube they have for them but if the dealer does it they charge an amount close to equal the blue book value.

Anyone else know about this "lube" for the window seals? I'm game to try anything at this point, its driving me bonkers. I really try to avoid dealers at all costs where possible, I just don't trust their shop guys.

Hmm, I don't know of any lube. I suspect the lube gets installed on the window regulator assembly somewhere. Seems to me a proper fix may be to install teflon washers on the mounting bolts for the regulator assembly. If you are referring to the same creak that I hear when my windows reach the top, the noise appears to be coming from inside the door. I've always suspected the creak is due to the regulator shifting/twisting when the window is stopped but the motor is still applying torque.

There was an article or reference to a tech bulletin about the window creak in Popular Mechanics some months ago. Sorry I don't have more info about it or exactly what issue. I took it to the Ford dealer I'm familiar with and they said they could lube them for me if I wanted.
