This will be a complete fresh start of a topic,
I will post some more topics on cars I work on, but that will follow whenever I am serious working on that car again.

This is going to be a Enzo, customized. I already made an Revell Enzo, but something went wrong with the varnish, so the outside got complete ruined.
I bought this kit for 6 dollars and was all new and with a brush and 3 bottles of paint :screwy:

As colour scheme I was going for a flat-black Enzo with gloss black wheels

And these wheels are going underneath the Enzo

Gloss black was my first intuiton for the kit, my previous Enzo was gloss Red, but then again....It is so obvious.... I wanted to give it a bit more radical look. And if I don't like it, I will respray the car

I hope the car get's with flat black a stealth look.

Interesting build idea, id like to see the finished product.
I have a suggestion, maybe do a color combo of the fl black with a nice carbon or even an artistic split on the side as if part of it was unpainted to see the carbon? hmm just an idea. Keep us posted!:D

Today I sprayed the Enzo in flat black, it did looked awesome! But the thing with flat colours is that they are really scratch sensitive, so i decided to spray some layers of clear satin varnish over the car.
It seems to be okay, but it ended up in horror. the black colour was crumbling and the varnish wasn't really smooth.

So I put the car rightaway in Ovencleaner and redo it tommorow, this time I will wait for a week between the last black layer and the first layer of varnish

crumbling as in cracking did you use the right primer?

I did not used primer at all, it is a reaction between the black colour and the varnish

I worked on the car yesterday for several hours and without sanding, the car is now completely back to its molding colour:)

it needs some days for drying, and then we will try again with painting

Today I resprayed the car again in a flat colour, and it was satisfying, but still got a problem with a varnish, the one I had proved to crumble my flat paint, and a flat colour needs a clear coat, to prevent scratching and touching by fingers as you can see on the hood of my Enzo.

Who has another idea to put up a clear coat? (flat ofcourse)

i like it. the wheels will look better if they are painted the same color.

what wheels do you mean? this Enzo gets Sportec wheels that come in black, so the original are being put in my stock pile

Im sure your not going for complete realism on this thing cuz it sucks with the enzo and the carrera gt that when you change wheels you are left with the whole single center wheel nut going to the new 5 lug wheels. and i dont know of any after market wheels that are single wheel nut.

I know, but I am still doubting what to do; or close the holes and make a centercap on, or leave it with the 5 holes and think they changed the hub on the car.

And like lownslow said; I do have seen an black Enzo with 5-lug wheels

I would try the 5 lug and see how it looks, it might give the car a more technical look with it being flat black as well.
Maybe post a mockup of the wheels on the car? that should help everyone. ;)
Cool keep the ideas flowin :)

Noting much has been going on, still waiting on the wheels.

And bought last week a Revell flat clear coat for the airbrush, so I am going to try if that gives me the effect I want.

I also bought a F50 for 6 bucks, and is probably also going to be flat black, or another colour wich is not expected on a Ferrari

on the varnish issue, what brand did you use? I can't seem to find that out from your posts. To me it sounds like you're trying to put laquer over acrylic or something like that. Try to find a black color paint and varnish out of the same line, that will probably take care of the problem.
best regards
Joel - who finds the flat black painting good looking

Thanks Joel, but both paints were on the same base, one was Revell, the Laquer was automotive paint. However, I used that same combination for many years, but only in the gloss paints.

So I bought last week a flat laquer from Revell, ready for the airbrush.

would tamiya acrylic's flat base be compatible with future wax?

gunze/Mr. Color's flat topcoat works great as well.

Wow, I never realized how many less components are in that Revell kit compared to Tamiya's!!!!!!!!!

Wheels look tits by the way!

thanks, but it isnt true flat black, it is a bit of flat anthracite, i did it in black, but anthracite give more that stealthy look.

is it just me, or are you puttying up holes after you painted the body?

i sprayed the body and afterwards I thought about the American side-lights and decided to smoothen them.

So yes, in this case after i sprayed the card. But when all is done, the car will be painted again
