I just got a project 95 Talon ESI with no motor. Im looking at making this a high HP high preformance streat car. Ive been out of the DSM sceen for a while, had a first gen for a bit. Im looking for a good motor to put in this car. Ill be turboing the motor so im looking for a motor with a high hp output before the turbo. If anyone can sugest to me a good motor to put into the car i would apreashate it. thanks

Nothing will fit in it unless you do some crazy customization bud. You should have gotten a turbo dsm in the first place :2cents:

Get a bone stock 420a, and rebuild it. Those things can handle a lot of power if done right. That's the only thing that will be a direct drop into it. There's alot of things you can do with the 420a. Do some research on it. Build the bottom, head, and slap a turbo on it. Can easily push out some good power with it.

How much would it take to get the 420a enough hp to run 11's and 10's compaired to the TSI's? Got the car for 500 bucks so if its to much ill just resell it. thanks

That post about the 3000gt twin turbo moter directly swaped into a talon ESI would that put out more power then the 430a?

 He was joking. The 6g72 (3000gt engine) would be an absolute bitch to put in.
When you go to put a new engine in, you dont want a high power non turbo engine because power without the turbo is made by high compression. You do not want to have compression above 9.0:1 on a turbo car (or atleast I wouldnt recommend it). Get a stock 420a, rip it apart and rebuild it. My buddy has a purple neon with that 420a that he rebuilt with forged internals, cams, all the other goodies plus a big fuckin t3/t4. He regularly fucks all the cocky Mustang, Camaro, and Corvette guys around here as well as pretty much every import guy. He raced a 300whp STi last week I think, beat him by a couple bus lengths. I think theres even a 2.2 stroker kit for the 420a, I'd look into that.

So your buddy with a 420a must be running close to 11 or 12's. You think i should keep the car and build up a 420a for it or sell it and get a turbo moddle?
thanks

If you get the turbo model a lot of things which you would have to do will already be done for you. The awd will really help too if your trying to put up good ET's.
But if your attached to your ESI and you like a project car (one that will prolly be off the road more then on) then of course it can and has been done. We can't tell you what to do it all depends on your goals/knoweledge/free time/bankroll etc. If it was up to me I would start out with the turbo model (and did).
Good luck

i know that the 2.2 and the 2.4 have the same hp. does the 2.4 have more of a potential then the 2.2 or is it worth it just to get the stock 2.2? Also i found a guy selling the 420a with a tranny for 300 bucks. thanks

Should have read the entire thread, we bashed him for a reason.
If you are seriously all about power, you picked the wrong car. Sell it and get a turbo DSM, you will have half the problems and it will cost you half the price of building the shit out of a 420A. With about $1k, you could be running 13's with a turbo DSM if done right. $1k won't get you shit with a 420A.

Yeah, I think Shawn is getting close to 11's if not there by now. His car is wicked fast. He knows his shit though, has tons of equipment, time, and most of all, money. In your case, I would drive a daily driver and get yourself a 90-92 GSX/TSI AWD. If you look you can get one for <$1000 and like someone else said, with another grand in parts you will have a 13 second car. Another grand and you should be able to hit 12's. Know any other car you can buy the actualy car and mod with $3000 and have a 12 second timeslip? I sure as hell dont :).

My friend once found a junker supra and put a couple g's in it and ran 12's.
No wait that was fast and furious. But that green car that got shot up, I recognize it from somewhere... Hmm what kind of car was that???

Thanks Guys, ill probably go get one with a 4G63T motor in it. From the stuff ive been reading that is a good motor right? is the older 1.8L better then the 95-98 2.0L? My old DSM had the 1.8L 4G63T. Thanks for all the help, sold the car today for 800 bucks.

I think you're a little confused. The 4g63 only can in 2.0's, the 1.8 was non turbo SOHC and its engine code is something like 4g37.
4g63 > all other 4 bangers
4g63 > all other 4 bangers
