...just in case any of you aren't aware what we're dealing with in New England right now. Basements are flooding left and right, streets are being closed because they're under water, and landscaping is being washed right out of people's yards. We've got these ponds sprouting up right in the middle of regularly travelled roads, schools are closed, and we're STILL looking at at least two more days of rain (and who knows how long it'll take the runoff to slow down and the rivers to start receding.) I swear, if ANYONE so much as utters a single mention for the next two months about it being "so dry there's a high fire threat" I'm going to threaten them with fire. :swear:
Don't get me wrong, I've got no problem with the important meteorological process that is rain -- it's just two straight weeks of it that pisses me off.

 Man, if I was still in school I suppose I wouldn't be complaining either. I'm in Derry, NH -- we're right inside the that big southeastern NH/northeastern MA rain bubble (the one that they keep upping the numbers in from 6" to 8" to 10"+) And yes, the "Ark" phrase is a popular one right now :uhoh: It's incredible when you see some of the pictures people are sending in -- vehicles are entirely underwater in some places, and they're saying the rivers still aren't due to crest until some time tonight. Needless to say sump pumps are a hot item right now...

Be happy you're getting rain man. Between October '05 and the beginning of May '06 our area didn't even get an inch of rain. We're having one of the worst droughts ever here.

I actually welcome the rain at this time of year. It cleanses the air of all that pollen and dust that I'm allergic to.
Here in North Jersey, we're expecting showers, rain and T-storms all week.

See, a little rain (just to dampen down the pollen and whatnot in the air) is fine by me -- it just means my eyes won't be horribly itchy after biking for a couple hours. And I would be a little more forgiving of the weather if we at least had some sweet storms as well (lightning, thunder, etc.) But we haven't had one flash of lightning nor crack of thunder -- just rain and grey sky, day after day.

Not quite as bad in western mass, but the no sun thing for a week sure is depressing. The part i find funny is how this happened last, what, october with the week of heavy rains?
craziness.

Best of luck to you man. I know how much it sucks. We've been through severe flooding too many times here in Houston. Our house has been saved each time, but each time it gets closer and closer.

I keep looking at the videos of New England and hope that my family is okay. Some are just north of Boston, some are in NY state, and the rest live up in Maine (southern areas).
It's like deja-vu from when Pittsburgh was flooded from Hurricane Ivan in September 2004. The difference is that this time, I don't recognize all the structures in the news footage.
Hope that everyone up there makes it through safely and relatively dry. And to make you feel better, Pittsburgh is still in the 9-months of rain/clouds part of the year, so we're not feeling great about this all.

I have only been there once, but I think the city is called Sacco or something like that. They aren't close family, but family is family nonetheless, know what I mean? I haven't gotten any calls saying that anything has happened, but no one tells me anything at home, so I could just be out of the loop.

Oh i see. Thats only like ~35 miles from my house. They're getting hit pretty good like right now, but it's a fast moving storm for the most part.Might be getting some flooding ,haven't been there for a month or so, so I haven't seen it first hand. I haven't heard anything about it on the news.
