a friend of mine asked me to do his partially built 1/24 Tamiya Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II and since i just got the Nismo Z-Tune at that time, i decided to do both at the same time. some progress pics...
the V-Spec II as i got it from my friend:

clear parts from both kits:

punched out holes from the seats:

sorry for the dim pic. completed the interior of both the V-Spec II and Z-Tune:

Z-Tune floorpan and some parts being painted:

progress on the Z-Tune floorpan:
http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/1364/image378of.jpg
replaced the stock Z-Tune brakes with ones from a 1/24 tamiya JGTCC 2003 skyline recasts (all 4 rotors at the bottom of the pic):
http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/5347/image387sc.jpg
as of writing though, the body on the V-Spec II got er, eaten by automotive thinner, ruining it. :( ordered from tamiya last march, but they have not yet sent the parts, although they said last time they were working on it. argh. and to think that they have a tamiya factory nearby in cebu, philippines. :banghead: so the project is on indefinite hold. will update as soon as new things come up.

just a bit of an update.
i picked up a package from tamiya yesterday in the mail, turns it, it was the v-spec2 body that i ordered and paid for...2 months ago.
it would've been easier for me to leave manila, philippines, drop by their cebu, philippines plant, and then get the part there. hahahahaha!
anyway, it got to me in good shape, even if the box was a bit dented. after i put it back in though, it got bent, so now the a-pillars were bent. a bit of rebending brought it back okay. started scribing the panel lines last night and washed the body, will try to paint it soon, as we currently have 73% relative humidity here :(

almost done. just missed out on doing the wipers and finishing up the wash for the panel lines.
i do hate myself. i build better kits for other people, but not with those that i own. and until i get the new digicam by the end of the month, i'll hold off in putting a completed thread for the V-Spec II, though i hope i finish the Z-Tune by that time as well (just awaiting bodypaint).
after 2 wet coats of a commercial acrylic lacquer spray:
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/7650/image025hr.jpg
after the wash and attaching the bumpers, skirts, and wing:
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/6208/image02012fx.jpg
after a bit of car wax polishing and the glass area attached:
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/2888/image04011va.jpg
this time around, i used white glue to secure the glass areas. i do have a tendency to have accidents with glass areas and styrene cement. i believe this should end that streak. the white stuff is the white glue that's still drying.
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/2015/image065ae.jpg
so far...
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/8577/image095zf.jpg
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/9950/image108vj.jpg
one GT-R logo on the rim got fubar'd up by micro sol, it literally curled up on itself. i'll see if i can find the GT-R rim logos on my V-spec II since i used the 5-spoke rims and not the 6-spoke ones...or i'll have to handpaint the GT-R logo.

didn't like the way how the silver coat went on the Z-Tune, and to think that it'd be the last before the clear, so i put it in a 90% isopropyl alcohol bath, along with some big parts from a 1/100 master grade EX-S Gundam.
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/6668/image028kj.th.jpg (http://img159.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image028kj.jpg)
as seen here...got a bit fickle with the paint. went for silver, then for black, then silver again, then clear orange, then black, then silver. paint started going off after just a few seconds of soaking...even the silver car paint!
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9653/image037vc.th.jpg (http://img88.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image037vc.jpg)
and after a few more minutes of brushing:
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/5330/image054oo.th.jpg (http://img159.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image054oo.jpg)
had to leave it sealed up in the meantime, some spots still had paint that wouldn't brush off. i'll go back to this in 3 days since i gotta take care of applying for a teacher's license first. :D

managed to sneak this in between gatherin all the requirements and applying for the license.as brusko24 mentioned in the past, i try using krylon for primer...and it turns out great. i only saw beige satin krylon at the mall though, but i'm okay:
http://img310.imageshack.us/img310/6827/image126si.th.jpg (http://img310.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image126si.jpg)http://img310.imageshack.us/img310/9153/image138co.th.jpg (http://img310.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image138co.jpg)
sanded down some rough spots that i missed when i puttied up the areas that the car paint ate/wrinkled:
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/1269/image148xf.th.jpg (http://img255.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image148xf.jpg)
and another coat of krylon:

forgot to take pics of the white paint. i'll probably do this in white instead of the regular silver to make this as the V-Spec II's twin. heheh.

z-tune's almost done, 2 more mist coats of white...it's just too rainy at the lately to continue. :( and i sanded down the last coating after i didn't like the "future wax shine method"...i'll be sticking to regular polishing and waxing! :D

how it looks. it's actually a bit shorter, so had to use a spacer from the 1/24 Fujimi SP Meister wheelset, thinner ones for the front, thicker for the rear.
