2000 Corolla Power Window problem

I have a 2000 Corolla and my driver power window doest work properly. It goes up and down but it does it for a rvery short time - the window will go down and halfway it will stop and i would have to wait for 5-10 minutes for the window to go back up again. Seems like a battery is dying. Any suggestions?

I know this is an old posting, but I have the same problem. To add to it all three other windows work fine.

First off, welcome to AF!

Does it go up/down very slowly, like the motor is straining? Clean up and lube the window frame with a wipe of silicone spray. Also check that the window is straight in the track. A cock-eyed window takes alot more force to raise.

You don't mention a mileage for your car, but it will typically be one of three things...switch, motor, or the wiring.

The motor can be tested by plugging the suspect one into another door's connector or to a 12v source (check the wiring for the correct hook-up).

The switch can be tested with an ohmmeter.

But my bet is that the driver's wiring harness has fatigued to the point of wires breaking. Try to operate the window with the door opened and squeeze and roll the exposed rubber wiring harness with your fingers. Sometimes you can make it contact this way. Replacement with a new harness is best but not always available. Used ones can be had at a junkyard and the original harness can be repaired using new wires spliced in. Use the same gauge and type to maintain flexibility.

Hope this helps!
