Would it hurt anything to remove the AC Pump?

My old '93 3 cylinder / 1 L. Geo Metro originally had Air Conditioning!
56 HP and it ran an AC pump!
My Lord! How absurd!

Anyway - it did not have a belt going to the AC pump when I bought it last Fall.

Some guy from Montana sold it to me with 146,000 miles on it.

I do not intend to ever try hooking the AC up again
and
I am damned tired of having that AC pump in the way and the damned metal tube going
back to the body which makes repairs difficult.

If I were to remove the Pump and disconnect the metal tube and such from the AC
hookup at the firewall, would that hurt anything?

Would it screw up the ECM - make it go Mad or at least need Lithium?

I sure would like to make some more room for my hands when I need to get in there!
Especially the Timing Belt Cover is hard to work on with that metal tube in the way...

you can remove the pump and bracket and associated lines without any problems, computer doesn't connect to it so won't be a problem

If the tubes still contain refrigerent and you plan to remove it completely you will probably need to have an A/C tech extract and collect it. I presume it is R-12 in which case venting it would be illegal and also the system is pressurized. Not sure about the '93 but in my 2000 the compressor is connected to the ECM - the ECM increases the idle speed while the A/C is on or the engine will stall. If that is the case then it is connected to the computer and if you try turning on the A/C without the compressor the CEL may come on.
