Putting a 1967 mustang together and would like to put shorty headers in it. I have no maniflods now and if I have to pay 300 for useds stock manifolds I would prefer headers but dont want the hassle of log tube. Does anyone make these?

Everything I've seen for 390's have been long tube headers. Is it gonna be that tight of a fit to get the LT's in there? I know I had to put the headers on my motor when it was halfway in the car, but its an engine swap. Was it 67-68 that Ford made the front of the mustang a similair cars bigger to accept the FE blocks or was it 69 that they made the change? I cant remember. I do know that the 67-68 carbs had more room than the 64 1/2 - 66 cars. It will be easier to run the exhaust if you can fit a long tube header in there. But they wont be cheap. The cheapest I saw at Summitracing.com where about $365. But there where Hooker Super Comps. I checked with another company as well and they didnt even offer headers for the early mustang unless it was a 260/289/302.

67/70 all are the same under the hood. THere is just no room to put headers on these. The engine has to be part way in like you say to make them fit and I am just to old and cranky to deal with it and after they loosen up and start making noise.

I guess your stuck with the stock cast exhaust manifolds then.
