I have a 1995 3.4 v6 automatic. when the car sitts overnight and i go to start it in the morning it doesnt want to start. It turns over like normal but it pudders out and makes a grinding noise. if I get it started and then go some where and try to start it its fires right up. only when sitting. if anyone has any idea please let me know. thanks

If the grinding noise is in the rear then I would say fuel pump.

When you trigger the starter with the key. It spins the flywheel with a gear that spins out on the shaft from the starter motor. Whats most likely happening is that gear is get stuck on the shaft in the start position and not getting drawn back down the shaft. So the flywheel teeth are grinding on the starter motor teeth.

would you happen to know why it only happens when the car has sat for a while at least 12hours or more. how bad is it for that to be happening

Well most metal expand when you apply heat. So when the gear is warmer it may slide on the shaft better than when its been sitting for a while and colder. As for being bad. Yes, after a while you will start causing damage to the flywheel and starter.
