Electric window not working.

Hi, I am asking this on the behalf of my Dad. He has a 'P' reg Escort, yes, an old banger... Just today the drivers electricg window just stoped working, and is now always open a bit. Does anyone know any ways to fix this? Will he need a new motor part or wires? Anyway to tell?

To tell what's wrong you should be able to hear the motor when hitting the switch. If you don't hear anything check the 30amp fuse marked window in the top right of the in passenger fuse box. If the fuse is OK then it is the motor that is bad. If when hitting the switch you hear the motor running, but the window isn't moving it is the gears that are bad. You can buy the motor or the gears separately as needed.
