TDC is a position of the piston... not something that can be "off" unless its in relation to timing. what code is it giving you?

It's the second sensor in the dist. It can also be located on the camshaft of DOHC engines. It determines the injection timming for each cylinder, also used to detect engine speed to read the basic discharge duration, for different operating conditions. If the dist. base bearing starts failing, it will heat the sensor up, destroying the magnetism thus causing a code. It will lose 10% of it's strenght, each time it is heated up, to a 170 degrees plus.
In most cases, replacing the distributor is the only alternative.
Also since I know you just did a mpfi conversion check your wiring. First place I would check is to make sure the pins in the ecu are nice and tight.

oh no this is in my friends recently bought hf so it is wired for multi point and the dizzy should work but there always is that chance. i am hearning that i will need to take the timing belt off and put it back on.(it slipped a tooth or two) what do you guys think. i am gonna do this and write back if it works. later

well then you still have to worry about the dizzy shaft bearing being seized. the extra load from the bad bearing could acutally cause the belt to slip a few teeth.

replace the dizzy. your problems are solved.
your friend can take the three 12mm bolts out himself and pay for the new $150 dizzy and have the dizzy premarked with a marker to avoid having to reshoot the timing. or, pay for the new $150 dizzy, $70/hour for labor and shoot the timing, and $30 to pull the cel.
you can also tell your friend to bring me a case of coronas and ill have that all done for him in 15mins assuming he brings the dizzy.
