Hello all, i am looking to change my brake pads over to ceramic pads. The choices that i have come across and will probably go with one of the 3 are
Bosch 60.99
Hawk 78.00
or Duralast gold 40.00
Are the duralast going to be crap if i do go with them? All 3 are lifetime warrenty even on normal wear. Anyone have expierience with any of them?

Iguess what i would do is have counter person get a set of each then i would open the boxes and lookk at how the pad is connected to the metal back plate. All of the brands you mentioned are going to have the same or simerler ware rates but the big difference in todays pads is haow they are put together. Look for bigger rivets or just more substatial conmnecting pins. That is about the only thimg that will go wrong nowadays is the pad seperating from the backing plate. Honestly for my two cents i really dont understand the rush for people to go to ceramics especially on these heavy trucks. For what ive read and heard about ceramics its not going to drasticly improve your braking on yoiur truck. Its good for small lighter cars with big rotors. They are expensive as you have noted and your braking power wont be much better, and yooull be replacing these pads real fast if you tow are heavy footed or just hard on the vehicle. My plan? I will spend my money on slotted and drilled rotors and semi metalic pads the pads will probably cost me 14 bucks and they will last much longer...jj

Thanks for the input, my main reason for wanting to go to the ceramic pads is that from what i have seen and heard is that they don't have as high of a dusting as semi-metallics. Ive got some nice aftermarket wheels on my truck and i don't wanna have to wash the whole darn truck all the time just to get dust off the wheels.

Oh well that does make sense but i might find someone whos used them for a year or so and see what they have done to the rotors and how they have worn...jj

Are you sure you do not already have ceramic pads?
Post back year and model 2 or 4 wheel rear or drum brakes and engine and trans And I can check for you.
Most parts place have a listing on the OEM type brake pads for your truck.
But always get the best grade pads.

If you're just choosing between brand names, I would look closely at the actual makers of the pads. If i'm not mistaken, when I researched this, I was told that there are only a few makers of brake pads...at least for the normal consumer....then the brand names are just stamped on the box. I've got the Duralast Golds on the rear of my truck and will probably use them on the front when they got as well. I'm not sure what I have on the front....but I don't have brake dust problems on the front or the rear. I've suspected what MT-2500 said....I probably got ceramics all around.

I bought a set of Brembo slotted rotors and installed NAPA ceramic pads on my 2000 K1500 and in 13,000 miles the front rotors need to be resurfaced and guess what...you can't resurface a drilled or slotted rotor. I called Brembo and they acted like they were going to help me and said they would do something thru the place where I bought them but first they said I should have drilled rotors instead of slotted. I called the store and they gave me a small precentive off and the factory didn't help at all. Thanks for nothing Brembo!
