my 1/4 time at the tracks

ok,so I went to the tracks yesterday,me & my brother in his mazda 626,
but lets start from the beginning,
My car:
20.3 stock d15b8 66k
19.3 I/H/2" E, duals
18.062 (4-26-06) b8 block,b7 head milled,cam gear
16.088 @ 83.859 (5-12-06) MPFI Swap
gained 2 seconds from the mpfi swap,I am 1 happy man to be down
in the low 16's pretty much high 15's,I could of keep on going to hit the 15.9,15.8 mark if I would of took a few things off,(I only ran 4 times)
but what gets me,is that a stock SI runs a 16.5,or so it says,
how is my car running a 16 flat with stock engine components,
not only with the d15b8 block & dx tranny,(my guess is exhaust!/)
my next upgrade I'm heading for is a stage 1 clutch & 12lbs flywheel,
VERY soon,
but I've gained a little over 4 seconds in my civic, since the beginning of the motor, that alone tells me to keep at it.
thanks to the ppl thats helped me out on here, especially the ones that helped me out on the multi-port swap.

Damn, MPFI makes a hell of a difference. The next step you should take now, especially if your car is wired for MPFI, is giving your tired d15 a break and swapping that crap with a new engine. ;)

not to bad, my si ran 14.7 on pretty much a stock d16a6 with bolt-ons(i/h/e), a chip and bald ass 13" steelies that broke loose in 3rd for the first 2 runs...lol. and the 4door is a little faster topend.
you should use a a6 block... they are stronger... the little d15 can only handle so much.

14's with a d16a6 w/ bolt ons. i dont think that is possibly considering my freinds b16a crx only run 14's and mid to high if that. idk that much tho so i will let everyonr else decide

you sir are a liar. no way in hell you hit a 14.7 with bald tires.
whats his name on here.....i can remember he doesn't post anymore, but he had that mint red si hatch with the ww kit with a BUILT a6 that ran 14's and he was really pissed cause of it lol. And built as in rods, pistons, cam, springs, etc.

I believe it. d16a6 is a tough motherfucking engine. I want to go to the track so bad. I always abuse the hell out of my car but I really have to take it easy though since I use it to commute...

14's are possible (when the car is fully gutted) if the a6 was strong to begin with, not all motors are the same.
just because tires are bald doesent necessarly mean your going to get bad times, I cut 2.1 60's with bald michellin v4's and ive seen people doing worse than that with drag radials. play with tire pressure and launching rpm's. Everyone goes to the track thinking they are gonna get the best possible time that day, go and learn how to drive your car you may think you know how to but practice enough and times will get better.
I cut .7 seconds off of my time just from going to the track everyweekend and learning my car.

You are totally right. I went to the track a month ago for the first time, after owning my car for 7 years, and ran a 17.8 It was pretty devestating :uhoh: Not really devestating, but I was expecting a 16-16.5

It's all good man, just keep goin and practicing and they will come down. I was pretty upset that I ran a 15.4 when I first took mine to the track but I kept going back and I would run consistant 14.7's, then I just decided to take it off the road for the new setup :evillol:
