I've been looking for new and future Tamiya release info for the past month. I haven't found anything other than next month's list on the Hobby Link Japan site (see NEW PRODUCTS...CARS...FUTURE RELEASES). For August they are releasing pre-painted and "silver plated" versions of several of their already released kits...
Honda Fit..pearled red white and black
BMW Z3..silver
New Beetle..silver
Honda S200...silver
Ferrari...silver
Porsche 911 GT3...silver
Nissan Z35 Fairlady...silver
I find that pre-painted kits are a waste of time if you're a serious modeller. The body isn't prepared and you still see the mold lines.
I placed a post about NEW TAMIYA RELEASE INFO a while back and someone mentioned something about there being no new release rumours until the "Fall Hobbyshow" Anyone know what show he was referring to?
The TAMIYA JAPAN SITE...
The 2002 SHizuoka hobby show just has a Beetle
BUT>>>
Somewhere in the pictures of their Company picnic is a model contest that has pictures of an open LeMans racer... can't remember what it was exactly. It looked EXACTLY like something Tamiya would make and NOT a conversion.

The silver cars that were in you post are actually going to be chrome plated so to speek. Just getting more millage out of very expensive molds. The porshe that you mentioned was built by Dale King. He won the master modeler award at the tamiya con 2002. That kit actually started out as the Toyota T020 lemans car.

Soon to be terminated current version of FD was announced in Feb by a Tamiya distributor in Europe, but it turned out to be a false announcement. Every kit announced at the time was released, with one exception, and that was the Boxster Special Edition, which wasn't announced back then.
I'm not sure if the plan was changed, or info was wrong from the first place, but I haven't heard anything about Tamiya retooling their FD. It would be nice, if they tone down the overly muscular body, and make the new front bumper. Then, I wouldn't have so much trouble building several Fujimi kit. (Even Aoshima is fine to me.)

I think they will announce their new released kit in the end of the summer !
I hope there will be some nice new race cars and not only some Honda Jazz & Co
I agree with you Fatboyslim, the prepainted kits are for "modeler of the sunday" but we need everything in this world !! !:) :D
