NOS on a Turbo

Hello my civic brethren,
I have a basic setup on my car right now. As of today my civic has Altezza Gen. 2 tail lights, a Greddy crome exhaust tip, a Pioneer head unit, a Kenwood 600wt amp, and a 12" DB1 Kenwood Sub. I have ordered an aem air intake, mugen grills, type R shift knob and red indiglo race pedals. In the future i plan on putting a Greddy or Garret Turbo in my car and i was wondering about NOS on top of that. Is it wise to put a high amout of NOS on an already turboed car? Should i go to a bigger turbo, or will the turbo lag increase with a bigger one? Also i am looking at other ways to increase hp. I have seen the idiots on ebay that are trying to sell the bilge pumps as superchargers and i know thats not the way to go. Please write me back and let me know about the NOS on top of the Turbo and hp gains. Thanks alot!

Well I guess it really depends on how much boost you plan to run. N2O is great with turbo setups for two reasons.
1. If you use it right off the line it eliminates turbo lag and spools the turbo instantly.
2. N2O has an intercoo, ling effect, so it will cool the air a little more.
If you plan to run more than 10 PSI and N2O, you are going to need some heavily forged internals to handle 10 PSI and a 100 shot of juice. I just all depends on how much boost and N2O you plan to run.

Thanks alot polygon, but i have another q also. I have heard some people complaining that with an aem cold air intake, there check engine or other lights come on...are there ways around that or is there really something wrong with the car???

 100 shot of nos on top of 10psi?!?!?!
i'd run maybe like 75 shots or something..but 100? i'm assuming you have a lot of money then:D

disconnect the battery from the car (negative first then positive) and leave it for about 15 minutes. that should reset the ECU. after that has been done, reconnect the battery (positive first then negative)

Cool, thanks alot! I talked to an automotive shop and they didn't want to touch it because they said that they have had problems with those lights before, but now i know what to do. Thanks again!

Yeah, that is why when I run N2O it will be a 25 or 50 shot just so I can use it to sppol on the turbo on the launch. :D

Come on guys...If you're going to use nitrous, go big!!!:D Hopefully things will go right and I'll have another LT1 in the very near future to play around with...I'm going to turn it into a HUGE nitrous car...Can we sayed forged everything and a 400 shot of n2o:D :D We'll see... Anyways, as stated above, a lot of times people will use the nitrous as a way to counter turbo lag by spraying right off of the line. I personally think that it's overkill in anything but a drag-only vehicle, as you'll almost surely need slicks if you spray right off of the line, in which case you won't be driving around on them. I say look into other options to counter turbo lag.

the only problem going big for him is that he is going to run a turbo, which the D16Y6 isn't built for, on top of that, nitrous too.
if he goes with a large turbo, then turbo lag would be virtually impossible to eliminate, bucause his B16 doen't have enough CFM and velocity to spin it. only if he had an LS1 or LS6

One of my fraternity brothers has a NOS system in his car. We were BSing about it and he was showing me how it was hooked up. He has the engager for the system hooked up to his throtle. He said it was better then having a button (i.e. Fast and Furious style) because it let the car put the boost in at the right time rather then an inexperienced person using NOS. Do you guys think this was a good idea or not? Let me know.. Thanks!!

yes it is true..they made the kit to operate only at wide open throtte, meaning it'll activate only if you smash the throttle. this is done to keep the car from wheelspin when it launches. also, it may not work in 5th gear if you have a manual because it protects the gear from dying. the 5th gear is always the weakest compared to the other 4. i would say use the same setup. using if off the line will create a lot of wheelspin.

Yes, this is the ONLY way to go...Need to have a WOT switch, so as GSteg said, it only activates when you have the pedal on the floor, and also it's essential you have a Window Switch, so it only operates between a specified RPM range...Say 3000 - 5000(stock LT1, varies for every vehicle). This keeps the system from spraying if you accidentally shift late and the engine hits the rev limiter...What happens is when you hit the rev limiter it cuts the fuel from going into the engine. Without a window switch the nitrous would keep spraying even though the engine is getting no fuel. I'm not going to go any further into than that, but just know that nitrous without fuel going into your engine is BAD. Also, if you want to be completely safe(a good idea...), also look into getting a FPSS(Fuel Pressure Safety Switch). This protects your vehicle by cutting the flow of nitrous if for any reason the fuel pressure drops below a specified amount...Once again, stopping nitrous from being injected into the engine without fuel.
