How to get wicked paint????

So how can i get wicked paint without resorting to polishing???

I used detailmasters polishing kit from 3200 grit up to 12000grit and it's great! but how can i get wicked paint like that without having to us a kit like that??

argh..i always seem to take off the thin parts :(

I've only got a wicked paint job w/o having to use the polishing kit or the polishes maybe two or three time my entire life. I usually (if necissary) sand with the 4000 grit cloth and use some meguires high-tech yellow wax and start rubbin' away.

Well, using Tamiya spray paint is definitely one way. Spray on several mist coast allowing 10-15 minutes between each mist coat, then spray on several "wet" coats. I got a really smooth finish that way that only needed to be polished out by Tamiya Compound. P-man uses Tamiya spray paint + compound exclusively.. :)

i like the tamiya sprays but their too expensive... i used automotive lacquer in that pic and it turned out pretty good... gonna try it again cuz it's 1/2 the price of the tamiya sprays here..

Yeah...I find Duplicolor to be the best...they're polishable within two-three days
