i have a profile HA1000 2 channel amp and 2 kicker comp 10" subs. i tried hooking them up yesterday and failed at doing so. im not exactly sure what i did wrong. i went to my local car audio store and bought a wireing kit and a speaker level to RCA adapter. if you dont know what that is, its a connector type thing that allows you to plug a RCA cable into your speaker wire. i dont know if that made sense, but i hooked it up how the instructions told me to. so i assume thats right. i needed this cause i dont have a aftermarket CD player with RCA outputs. i plugged in the ground wire, the speaker wire, RCA cables to the line in inputs on the amp, and pretty much everything exept for the the remote turn-on wire. everything had good connections. so then i hooked up the power wire with the fuse in it. Put the on the positive battery knob then hooked the other end up to my amp. started up my car and the amp didnt turn on and nothing was comming from my subs. all the other speakers worked though. i dont know what i did wrong. do i have to hook up my remote turn-on wire for it to work? help is appriciated.

Hook up the remote turn on wire to a wire that is +12V when the car is on. Usually people use a wire from their cig. lighter. Or, if you must (NOT RECOMMENDED) hook it up directly to the battery with a switch. If you do this and forget to turn off the switch you will drain your battery.

hook the wire to the REM on the amp, then you could wire it to the switched power wire on the radio (i think this should shut the amp off?)

He doesn't have an aftermarket CD player so it might be kind of hard to find that wire on the factory harness as the wire colors aren't universal.

true, you could try and wire it into a clock or something

you could use a test light, or a meter. what you wanna do is put your test leads on various wires in the radio harness and notice which leads have power when the radio is on, and cuts off whenever the radio is off. if none are switched off by the radio then try to find the ones that cuts off when the car is off. that's the wire you should use for your remote leads to your amp.
