Hi i was just wondering if I should use enamel or acrylic paints for painting my models. Ive never used enamel, but acrylic seem to give me problems, for instance, when I was painting flat red onto black plastic it just runs off and doesnt seem to stay on the plastic, so it gives a really bad finish. Does enamel do this also? Thanks

You can use enamels, acrylics or laquers to paint your models. It's not really about the type of paint, it's about the technique. From the looks of it, your problem is too much thinner and/or too thick coats and no primer. That's the gist.
I suggest you read through the stickied threads to get a better understanding of the whole process. Also don't forget to search for answers to your questions before asking them - will save you time and is a nice thing to do in any case.

I only primer bodies before spraying. If im painting with a brush i paint straight on with no primer and straight from the bottle, I use no thinner etc. So maybe i should prime all parts and then paint to help the paint to stick.

Well hard to tell. I used Humbrol enamels for everything. Interior, bodyshell, airbrush, handpainted... then i switched to laquers(tamiya) for the body and the rest enamels. But the more i use those acrylics (I'm talking about tamiya acrylics) the more i like them. VERRY easy to use in an airbrush. Good coverage. And on my next car I'll even try to use them for the body. But acrylics verry hard to paintbrush. So there isn't a final solution for you're question. Just buy some enemals, some acrylics and experiment. and search for tips on this website and try them out....
