1. Had new brake pads installed 6 monts ago. Now when trying to slow down and stop while driving down a hill, my whole car shakes in the front. Also if I try to stop while my wheels are turned it is as if my brakes just quit working, they don't grab well at all. My husband says it could be an axle issue. If so what would be an estimate in getting this fixed?
2. I took my car to a transmission place because it felt as if my car was slipping when changing gears. They drove it and checked the dip stick and stated I needed my transmission rebuilt. Cost $1700.00. I just can't afford that so I took my car to get the transmission fluid changed, no place here can flush my transmission. Anyway, they changed my transmission fluid and no one said anything about maybe needing to get the transmission looked at. After getting the transmission fluid changed my car drove fine with no slipping of course 3 months later it is happening again. Do I need to go get the transmission flushed? or am I going to have to pay 1700.00 to get it repaired? If that is the case I might as well just get another vehicle.
Anyway any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Mileage and Engine?
You might be looking at needing a tranny rebuild because Ford hasn't built a decent electronic tranny since...EVER.
First I would look into to getting the transmission filter changed, tranny flushed and if that works out for you getting an transmission inner cooler added.

What color is the fluid when you replace it, if it is a brown color you NEED to get it fixed. Unfortinally 1700 is a reasonable price. I just had this done, if your fluid is browney grey color that means your tranny is fried and needs repair. If it is still redish then get the filter replaced, and do a FLUSH of the system, not just replacing the fluid. Hope this helps.
