VG30DETT in a 240?

i found one out of 90 300zx for pretty cheap and i figured that it would be a good idea to cram it into a 240's bay.
but before i get it i was just wondering if anyone knows or has done anything like that before, so i could learn what i would have to work i would have to do as far as re-positioning the motor/tranny mounts, shortening the driveshaft, cutting the bay and if i would have to do anything with the tranny tunnel.
also how much of a pain would it be to find or build the exhaust system.
any help would be nice.

Someone had a thread of such a swap back in 300zxclub.com and I'm sure it's probably here to. Try a SEARCH of these threads.
It has been done... but I'm sure it ain't easy or cheap...

a guy I know in Indy did the swap.
His name is Robbie Seals, and its probably the cleanest swap I've ever seen. It costs a shit ton of money, isn't very practacle, and was a bitch to do. He had to mount the brake booster and master cylinder inside the firewall just to get some extra clearance.
When I first saw it, it looked like just the motor sitting in there, and nothing else hooked up. I asked him how close it was to running, and he said it had been running for a couple weeks. He had most of the engine harness hidden away out of site.
if you search on streefire.net for "vg30 240SX" it will come up with a video of him at IRP.
but do a search around nissan forums, especially around freshalloy, for "300SX"

If the swap could be done cleanly I would say do it. For me it wouldn't be a matter of being different, but how much easier and cheaper it would be to tune a USDM motor.
And dont' even get me started on trying to find parts or information on my RB. There are days when I wish I could just throw my hands up in frustration, call my Nissan Dealership and say, here's my credit card, fix this!!! But nope, can't do it. The head Tech at the VERY large dealership had never even heard of the motor let alone seen one before when I brought it in for show and tell last month.l

I accually heard that this swap is harder and more expensive then an RB26DETT swap...Just a warning lol.

If you want to do the VG30DETT install because the 300z' are cheap,...get ready to spend even more to actually do the swap. Generally, the swap for the VG is going to be a tad over double the cost of doing the SR swap. There are no advantages at all of using the larger motor unless you are going to tub it, go insane with mods, just for drag racing. = not worth it. If cost is not an issue to you and you just want to do something that is not often done, then do it. But, seeing from your post mentioning "cheap", I would go with the SR or KAT
