what do motor mounts do? do they just stiffen the engine in place so when you rev it, it doesnt twist? does that help you in any way performance wise? are they worth the money? thanks.

they are one of the most useful and cheapest mods you can do. Besides it makes your car feel like a freakin race car and get ready from some serious vibrations and ratteling inside your car... lol. I love em!!

I also have them, they give you more torque. If you shift through different gears and watch your engine, it moves back and forth ALOT. With the upgraded polyurethane mounts when you do this and watch your engine, it doesnt go anywhere. The mounts transfer the energy/power your losing when the motor moves straight to the transmission and lets it shift faster/stronger. So you're not losing anything.

The top mount insert is relatively easy, just gotta un-do the top cover thing over the mount and you can use Wd40 or some kind of lube and just slllide it in. The bottom one can be difficult if the motor moves when you remove the old one. You definitely want to use a lift or something close to it. The hardest part is lining up the bolt holes when installing the new one.

I've installed 4 sets of motor mounts, and i have never once been able to get the top one to just slide right in w/o causing damage to insert. I just brace the engine with a jack on a LEVEL surface and just disassemble the upper mount. I feel the lower one is a piece of cake, just maneuvering the bolts around the wheel well shroud is the fun part. But if you can get them to slide right it, more power to you. I just feel a little reasured that they are properly seated when i take everything apart.
