Well...I had a great time.
Car did about what I expected. Not much traction...lots of spinning through first gear. Enough that you could feel the torque curve drop off and it would hook tossing the car forward nicely.
Still....2.2xx 60's.

I didn't even know this was coming. Apparently the organizers were setting up a couple of awards. They asked random people to give out the number of the car they thought looked the best. I got second place.
I don't even consider my car a show car.
http://home.comcast.net/~mrluos/Track43.JPG
Slip....Kinda hard to read. Track's printer was low on ink.
12.64 at 115.44 MPH.
NHRA adjusted for altitude - 11.72 at 124.36
DA for that run was 7400.

I didn't get many pics. Was too busy.

Dang, that's impressive, especially for such high elevation. Man Luos, you need to learn how to drive. 2.2 sec. 60' on drag radials and with 500whp (400whp corrected). Sheesh. Oh well, all that power you won't have to be a pro driver to win.

wow, that is one hell of a nice car. was that on street tires?

Nice, really got the tires smokin. Ever though of getting some slicks to drop some time?....seriously
And on that time slip, what ended up getting the 15 1/4? Please tell me it wasn't the Camoro (spelled it wrong to piss off red).

I think it was.
He was a rookie driver. First time out ever.
This was on Nitto DR's. Didn't matter where I would launch from...they would spin. Track prep wasn't the best. Plus...hard to hook the more power you have. I believe the Nittos actually hook better on the street than they do the track.
Might be able to find 11's early next season once I have slicks and a 12 bolt.

but damn! 2.2 60 and a 11.72 corrected... i cant wait to see what happens when you get some slicks on there and pull a 1.8 or better 60ft...

At that elevation Luos is only making around 440whp. That is why he only trapped 115 mph.

What elevation did he dyno at?
440 = 115 mph trap stills seems slow.
A turbo MR2 Weighing 3000-3100 lbs with 300 rwhp will trap around 110.
350 rwhp gets us to 115. How much heavier Lous car?

With me it weighed in at 3800.
DA was 7200.
Dyno corrects, track does not.
115 MPH is right where I wanted to be. Stock gearing (3.42). Plus spinning though 1st probably kept it down a touch. If I used that section of track to actually go somewhere it may have been higher.
I know where the issues lie with the car. Rear end is the first one. Then drag tires.
None of this Nitto DR shit. I swear they are just a really good hooking street tire.

Your car makes less power... and you get roughly the same 60' times. So hush.
He's doing alright considering I was 60'-ing at around 2.4-2.5 with really really bad gripping Kumho's with stock power. (not to mention the clutch wasn't all that great)

I think you done good buddy. 3800 lbs is VERY heavy. I'm kinda suprised at some of the guys' comments on here. I mean you're car essentially weighs 2-tons, and it still ran 115 mph at a mile above sea level, lol. And to me, the fact that you have a 3.42 gear makes it even more impressive. Shoot, I'd say your car would get close to 100 mph in 2nd gear.
And some of you guys need to realize that he's making nearly as much torque as he is horsepower. That makes it that much harder to get it hooked up. Plus, instead of launching at 5000 or 6000 rpms, he has to go probably below 3000.
Track prep makes all the difference too, especially when you're making alot of power. My 60' and 330 times at my local track are WAY off compared to the other two tracks I've run at this year. My best at my local track is 1.45 60' and 4.33 330. My best at one of hte other tracks is 1.41 60', and 4.18 330. That's a BIG difference.
Just wait untill he gets some slicks and a 12-bolt rear end. His car will pick BIG TIME.

Chevy's, track prep and hooking up are not going to affect mph as much as it would ET. If anything, poor traction and/or lousy track prep will inflate your mph.
I fully acknowledge that my experience is with turbocharged cars that are not as affected by altitude.
3800 lbs is quite heavy. I thought these cars were around 3200-3300.
I meant no offense by my posts and I hoep Lous knows that. His car is hugely bad ass (we all know that ;) ). I was just surprised by his numbers, that's all.

Track prep was pretty weak as well.
Had a friend also think it may have just been a little too cold for the Nitto's. It was only about 50-55 degrees all day....but humid.
Plenty of time to improve.

Not insulted at all.
The car weighed in empty at 3580. Add me....3800. Probably making 400-410 RWHP at the DA we were at yesterday.
I am happy with 115 MPH.
It is a 10 second car at sea level with slicks. Street trim.
I was racing with spare tire on the car, jack, all the seats, etc. The only thing missing is the A/C. And the only reason that came off was to help offset some of the weight of the iron block.

i guess the v8 low end tq is killing your launch with the DR's. my buddy making over 500lb ft of tq in his 240 can 60' 1.7 on his M/T DR's so i don't see how come your spinning so much.
i mean you launched at like 3000rpm? my buddy launches at 5000 rpm so hes practically launching on boost so tq should be similar off the line. then again, he runs at ATCO and thats known to be a pretty well prepped track. but the time he ran a 11.2 @ 128mph it rained hard and it stopped right when we both got there.

M/T > Nitto. By a TON!!!
There was another guy running the same tires and he was having problems as well. Hell...I could come off the line from 2,000 and burn them off.
In time guys!!! Just think if it does launch!

F a bunch of DRs. He needs to just go with slicks. I recommend Good Year Eagle Dragway Specials. Either that or M/T ET Slicks.

Yeah, to a certain degree. But I think its very minor. I trapped 103.46 in an 1/8th on a 6.65 pass. Trapped 102.8xx on a 6.55 pass. Just a half mph, even though I gained a tenth.
But I understand what you're saying.
All the rest of you guys wondering about the ETs will see BIG TIME pick ups when he changes to a 12-bolt rear end and slicks. He'll be able to leave the line with some rpms. You'll see his 2.2 60s turn into 1.70s or better.

I am NOT changing tires on my 10 bolt.
Once I get a 12 bolt...I will have skinnies and slicks.
I am actually glad I didn't get traction. My passenger side lugnuts were cross-threaded. Went to toss on the 245's to smoke....and I had all kinds of trouble with the lugnuts.
Time for some ARP's.
And the burnout video will have to wait as well.
