At the track

Well...I had a great time.
Car did about what I expected. Not much traction...lots of spinning through first gear. Enough that you could feel the torque curve drop off and it would hook tossing the car forward nicely.
Still....2.2xx 60's.

Using this as my background right now. :grinyes:

I didn't even know this was coming. Apparently the organizers were setting up a couple of awards. They asked random people to give out the number of the car they thought looked the best. I got second place.
I don't even consider my car a show car.

Slip....Kinda hard to read. Track's printer was low on ink.
12.64 at 115.44 MPH.
NHRA adjusted for altitude - 11.72 at 124.36
DA for that run was 7400.

I didn't get many pics. Was too busy.

by the way, you should definetely work on your launchs or you should get damn sticky radials to give you 99% traction... man, you lost like 1 second because of bad traction. IMO.

You make it sound like I don't already know that.
I wasn't able to find a good launching place on the tires I was on. Nitto DR's. I swear they are better street tires than track tires.
And the sound is changing a bit. The Magnaflows are getting put up here tomorrow.
Adjusted times were posted. 11.7 at 124 (about that anyways)

Nice, you killed just about everything on wheels there
What happened with the stang tho? Looked pretty close by about 1/2 a car in your favor?

l meant those HUGE drag radials, you know front wheels are a small and rear wheels are huge.. you should line up with those.. l guess you got mid-high ten seconds car...(with 100% traction)

I had to play catch up.
Beat him by about 0.3 seconds.
And Erdal...with a shitton of traction at sea level it is a 10 second car. I will be hard pressed to get into the 11's here though.

At first I was going to say you need to ditch the Nitto's and get BFG drag radials. But after seeing the vid. and knowing that you have over 500hp AT THE DAMN WHEELS....YOU NEED SLICKS!!!!!! Or atleast the M/T ET Street with a few grooves in it. How those got a DOT # I'll never know. I thought with that much power you'd be lifting the front but you can't cause it's not hookin. It's pretty cool when you hit 2nd though and you finally hook. Or atleast get some dirt track tires. They don't have a DOT # and they get kind of wobblely on the highway but, they hook like hell at the track. I used to use McCreary's soft compound. They were like a damn sponge they were so soft, and that's before the burnout. Ofcourse, with about 285hp at the cranck, I didn't have too much trouble finding a good tire. Your situation's a little different.

The track is one thing.
I am planning on taking some of my old tires and seeing if I can hold a 4th gear burnout. Soon.

l dont know much about these track racing things but l have heard when people take their cars to track and make some hard runs and then they pull engine and tranny down and clean or something..is that correct? did you need to do that too? if it is true, then l wouldn't wanna have 10 seconds car:)

First, I love your little jokes that you put up on your screen. Where do you get them. Second, no, you do not have to tear down the engine and trans. down when you race at the track. That is only the pro's. Funny cars, dragsters, pro-stock. People that you see on ESPN or Speed channel. You can take your car to the track and race, it does the same damage to your car that racing on the street does. It's better to race at the track anyway. You don't have to worry about cops, hitting an inocent driver in another car, plus you get to see how fast your car really is with the time slip. And if something does happen, they usually have an ambulance there, sometimes.

The car is sitting on 245/45/17's right now.
But I can't smoke them off quite yet. Passenger side lugnuts were cross-threaded. Thank god I didn't hook at the track.

So can you get it off, or do you have to have it broken off? Will you have to get a new lug also? I guess if they break the nut you'll have to.
Mr. Luos

I needed stronger ones eventually anyways.
They aren't that expensive.
Gonna need new lugs though. One broke off and I can feel another one is ready to go.
