p0785 code on 97 blazer

I have a 97 blazer 2wd auto that has ses light on with code p0785. the transmission will start out cold and go 1st, 2nd 3rd with no tc lockup. if i stop it will stay in third gear unless i manually downshift it which will only give me second and third. once it is up to normal operating temp i can turn the ignition off for about 10 sec then restart and it will run perfectly fine all day long.1st thru 4th with lockup. I replaced the 3-2 solenoid and trans filter, but still have same problem. thanks in advance for any help!

You have a 1997 which is the bad year for it.

i thought more codes showed up when it was the ignition switch? p0785 is the only one that it has. thanks-

Does anyone have any idea why it works fine when its up to temp and restarted? I would like to be able to change the ignition switch and have the problem solved, but the temp issue still bugs me. thanks-

ok here goes in that ignition switch i have just took one apart that was doing the same thing yours is doing.
what i found was 6 sets of contacts one of wich was burnt really bad and prob getting so hot it was sticking together...
but anyway this blazer is running fine now.
