Do you guys always do the Jeep wave?
Everytime someone does it to me I'm too late, and when I do it to someone else they dont respond.
Although now I've decided to do it all the time.

I try to do it all the time but sometimes Im too late. Most people around here will return it if they can.

Its when you pass another Wrangler on the road and wave at them.
The peeps in New Mexico dont do it that often, even though there are tons of Wranglers around. Normally the people who have mods do though.

Its a Jeep thing, you should understand. :)
Ideally the lesser built Jeep should wave at the bigger Jeep first. As a salute.
Never mind that, just wave.;)
It doesnt need to be another Wrangler either, the old CJs deserve a good wave as well, and they usually return them.
Its also acceptable to wave at built or muddy Cherokees. Even though they have more sheetmetal, they understand the Jeep thing.

WAVE DAMNIT!
Here(Ft Benning) you are gonna get a wave from any one in a lifted jeep, but other than that your on your own. I can useually tell from about 50 yards if they are the kinda Jeeper that waves or not. I always render the wave to a better built Jeep or to any CJ. It's those dang stock jeeps.........

The Jeep Wave can be anything from a couple fingers lifted off the steering wheel to a full-body lean out the (missing) door and a big arm wave. Just to say hey and acknowledge the Jeep Thing.

LOL thats what I thought it was. When we got our Jeep we noticed all kinds of people in Wranglers waving at us. At first I just thought they were all nuts but after a little while I finally got it.

lol This link has me rolling. The unwritten rules have finally been defined. BTW if you want to be guranteed a wave just go mudding to the point where you can't tell the color of the Jeep and drive around. It's hilarious!

lol, I'll have to start waving, there isn't too many wranglers around here...
up here in chicago, there aren't too many wranglers, but when i pass one, i always wave.
i have also come to the conclusion that all the four door, hard top stock jeeps, are no longer wranglers, but wannabe soccer moms trying to be the "hep cat on the block".
"oh you got the new 500? i took my daughters to dance class in the ole wrangler. yes, that's right, the wrangler. the same one they used in the army......(it's usually at this point i want to slug them)(and it helps if you say the above example in the snootiest, snobbish greenwich accent you can muster)
yes i know this is an old thread, but i needed to vent ......so sue me

When I first got my wrangler, I too noticed the wave (lots of jeeps here).
I have seen motorcycles riders wave at each other, and even some old Stingray Vettes do the same.
I seemed to be getting a lot of waves, so to google I went.
http://www.jeeptalk.org/jeep_wave.shtml <--- the first link very funny
I read somewhere that it started with the CJ. And I think we should keep it alive.
I wave first when ever posible, and try to wave back when I get one.
CJ, YJ, TJ, 2-door JK, modded XJ, any heavy modded jeep, any mudded jeep = wave
Have yet to see a 4 door jk worth waving at :nono:, and they don't wave at me. I like it this way too. :nutkick:

yea, i dont like the 4 door wranglers. they just dont look right. i mean if u want a 4 door jeep, buy a cherokee or sumthing. wranglers are meant to be 2 doors only. i dont wave to any 4 doors at all. i have yet to see a nice one with a lift and tires so i dont waste my time. plus the only 4 drs that i see are the stuck up kind that flip u off and give you a crazy look when you wave to them so.

Up here in Juneau, there's a ton of Wranglers, mostly YJ's and TJ's with a few JK's. Most of the TJ's and JK's are owned by non-waving hippies. For about the first year I was up here, I waved at all and received very few in return. I all but gave up on the wave. I still wave, in hopes that I'll run into that one last devoted Alaskan Jeeper. Bunch of stuck up hippies that don't appreciate what they have. But at least they bought smart and got a Jeep.
