Brake Question

Ok so my front driver's side brake is squeaking. It squeaks when i am driving, especially when i turn right, but the second i apply any pressure the squeak disappears. Its the same noise as if the pads need replacing, but when i looked at them, there is plenty of surface left. Also, it is not a warped rotor cause that was my next guess. Its a 2000 v-6. Any suggestions? I hate having a nice car that wont stop squeaking

Have you taken the tire / caliper off and cleaned the rotor and pads with brake cleaner , then blow dry with air..........At the same time check your wheel bearing...any movement is bad...if it is the same as my 95...it is a sealed unit !!!

If you have a book ( Chilton or equiv.) ...see what it say about brake pad installation and make sure it matches....

Did you make sure you didn't "misplace" one of the locator clips?

I cleaned the pads and rotors like u suggested.... still same thing. I had the brakes done by a local shop a couple of months ago cause quite frankly i didnt want to have to deal with it so im assuming that the locator clips r in the right place. this might be a dumb question but is it possible there is air in the master cylinder or the lines? would that cause a squeak cause of pressure?

No, air will not cause a squeak. Make sure they didn't bend the wear indicator onto the rotor. Aside from that they might have jsut used a way inferior pad company with crappy compounds.

i just noticed a shiny stripe on the rotor... perhaps they did bend the wear indicator. guess i have to take off the tire and look again. oh fun
