How Do I get a title?

Does anyone know how I can get a title for a 87 toyota pickup I just bought. The guy that owned the truck before me died and I bought it. Is there a why I can get a title for it. I live in Tennessee.:frown:

well, i'd call the tennessee division of motor vehicles (DMV) and they'll get you going in the right direction.

give them a call and ask them about filing for a lost title. I dont know about tennessee but i pretty sure you can get a new title for the truck, although it will probably cost you. you can go to/call your local DMV and they should be able to tell you too. hope this helps.

Did you get a bill of sale from the owner's estate?

yea he wrote me a bill of sale, but you can't get a builders title anymore in tennesee they changed the law, if thats what you were thinking. I was just wonder now about if I could get a abandoned title for it?

Take your bill of sale into the DMV and they will tell you what you need to do and how much you are going to have to pay.
