1999 honda accord ecu problem

I have a problem with the management light on a 1999 2.0 honda accord es. When the light came on, I had it tested by a honda dealer who said the problem was the o2 sensor. I have replaced this but the light is still on. If you disconnect the battery for half an hour, start the engine, the light stays off for about 30 seconds. I have been told that I need to disconnect the ecu for half an hour, re-connect it and take the car for a "sporty" drive. Only problem is.... I can't find the ecu, don't know what it looks like so I'm stuck! I've looked under the carpet in the passenger footwell but can't anything that looks dis-connectable! Any clues?

It's behind the center console on the transmission hump. You'll need to pull back the carpet on the passengers side. It SHOULD be there, I don't know why Honda would put the ECU in two different places for the I4 and V6.

Cheers, did see something behind the centre console, but couldn't see anything I could disconnect! As you can guess, I'm no expert, will have a proper look tomorrow. Thanks Again!

I'm not sure how the 4cyls are set up, but I believe there are 4 plugs in to the ECU.

Shouldn't have to unplug the ECU.
1st off, disconnect the negative battery cable for a half hour to an hour.
If the light comes back on after that. The o2 sensor wasn't the problem to begin with.
Go to Autozone and have them pull the problem code for you (free, whereas dealership charges you $75)
Come back adn tell us hte code, and we'll tell you the other possible solutions.

I'm having the same problem with you. My Accord is 2000. Been trying to fix it for few months now. Hasn't really take it to the Shop yet.
I would try the batt disconnect method. I tried to unplug the ECU few weeks ago and it aint easy. Hardly any room to pull the harness out. Another way that I think it might work is on the passenger side where the fuse are inside the car (right of glove comp.) There you'll see lots of harnesses near the fuses. Some of those goes to ECU.
I'll try it now to see if the Engine check light goes away. I have aready replaced 2 O2 Sensors with-in a week and it's not fixing it. And I tested the old O2 Sensor on my other Accord and its been working for the pass 2 years.
BTW is your error code is P1167 ?
