Relocated my battery

I liked how it felt when I did it to my last one, I'm sure I'll like the way it will feel this time:grinyes:

What is the purpose for relocating the battery? Do you have a problem with ventilation with the battery in the trunk?

no, there's no problem with ventilation. Moving it to the back helps give a closer 50/50 weight ratio. The battery makes up almost 2% of the car's weight. Plus the battery stays much cleaner in the trunk =P

ive only done it once, but i think ill do it this weekend, u buy a kit or build it sig? whatd u use?

lol i used speaker wire and i think 8 gugage wire last time

naw, I'm not that much of a noob to not do it myself, lol. I used about 14 feet of 4 guage cable, got the terminal switch for 3 bucks, reused the old battery plate, drilled holes and threaded them, used some marine goop, that sealer stuff for RVs, holds on to things like no other and doesn't allow water to get into exposed places, got a new ground cable from the junk yards (there are nice cables out there becuase people fix up their old cars and junk them, lol), and found another bar that holds down the battery strap so I had two of them to secure the battrey to the plate. Most expensive part is the cable, 4 gauge cost about 1.50 a foot here. I didn't think you could run the battery that well with 8 guage. My volt gauge reads just above 12, which actually seems better than before, lol. You should really get the RV glue stuff, they have it any hardware store, it turns to rubber practically and will never let go, lol. Great if you want the battery to stay put, but I used screws with it too just in case.

lol. I'm weary of 8 guage, and I'd only make it half way with 7 feet, lol. Crazy geos, too bad you had to get rid of it, I was realyl interested in seeing what you cooked up with it.

yea, oh well, the co-owner is leaving for the military and i dont wanna buy it off him so were gunna sell it, i need money for school and the mr2....in due time i will buy another 3 cyl geo metro and boost it

and the 8-guage is fine, i wouldnt go any smaller, just to let you know my clica comes w 8 guage stock, and i read a constant 13.5 volts in the geo

hmm.. I was just worried cuz of the distance, i mean 15 feet is a bit more than the regular 3 or 4 feet when it's in the engine bay.

true, lol the geo is only like 6 feet long
