Pressure regulator rebuild

I posted a thread not long ago about a problem I was having with my 89 4.3 just dying but would restart immediately. I tried to duplicate the problem but was unable to find a way to make it happen continually.

I did rebuild the fuel pressure regulator, it was extremely dirt, thought that might be it, wrong, went 5 miles and did it again.

What about fuel pump relay?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is the fuel pressure when you turn the ignition on, (do not start the engine) to "prime" the system? The pump should run for approximately 2 to 5 seconds and shut off. After the pump shuts off, the fuel pressure should hold steady. Secondly, what is the fuel pressure with the engine at idle? This information is necessary to continue with the diagnosis.

Fuel pump relay is wired in parallel with oil pressure sensor switch- so both would have to fail to create a fuel pump inop.......it would take longer to start if the relay was bad....

after overnight , pressure goes to 14lbs, engine starts right away idles great with pressure at 12 to 15. shutting it of the pressure drops on slightly and holds at about 10 for some time.

I havent been able to get it to shut of while the pressure gauge is attached. So I dont know yet if there is pressure at all when it quits while driving down the road
