The Nintendo Wii

Well as many of yall prolly dont know Nintendo, your favorite (:screwy:) game counsole is comming out with a new one call "Wii"
Introducing... Wii. As in "we."
While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.
If you havn't seen the controller for the "Wii" it looks like a remote
http://money.cnn.com/2005/09/15/commentary/game_over/revolution/nintendo_control.jpg
If you hold it sideways, it holds like a orignal controller

Sounds like (another) invitation to a cult! Interesting controller though. I can so see the NES controller resemblance to it. I don't know if widening it would feel any better, but it beats out the SNES controllers IMO.

oh no it's white :( that is such a bad idea. i know they're going for super nice and contemporary looking but seriously, how many of you guys wash your hands with soap and water before you pick up your video games to play? that is going to get sooo dirty and nasty...just eww...

... they don't explain how it'll change anything.
How do we play it? ... it's just a controller... what does it control?
I am lost...
I'll stick to my PS2 thank you.

It has a motion or gyro or something sensor in it. For first person shooter games, you can hold the controller like a gun and aim and shoot. For (American) football games, you can "throw" the controller to throw a pass.

Wow, y'all are just a bit behind on this one. The name changed from "Revolution" to "Wii" just recently.

Why won't Nintendo think of the children? I mean what if a young boy falls in love with another boy's wii? I mean what kind of message will that send to young boy if he wants another persons wii?
“Can I use your Wii because I want to see the cool stuff it does….”
"Wanna play with my Wii?"
"It is VERY motion sensitive"
"My Wii's controller is about 6 inches long, and quite responsive to touch"
Will the Black be bigger then the White Wii? Will the Yellow Wii be the smallest of the all?
Or at night…”Stop playing with your Wii and get to bed”
Ok I'm done now.

i don't think that! i was more referring to the newest consoles (systems?) being white. isn't the xbox360 white too? they come in black and grey too. right? they should come in pink...cuz pink is the best color ever. :iceslolan

haha wow.
well i think it's the most inovative of the three, xbox and ps3 are just upped the graphics and processing, where the Wii is doing something that hasn't really been done before in a gamin console. i think it has potential. also it's games are probably going to be very multiplayer based like the gamecube so they'll keep their current audience. if the ps3 and xbox dont overshadow it, it could do well, or nintendo could lose alot of money.

Even though it is innovative, the games mean everything.
Same with SEGA, the dreamcast was the most innovative system at the time, however it failed due to the lack of good games.

Anyone else think the powers that be at Nintendo have lost their collective minds? Seems like they realized they'd pretty much lost the entire market outside of Nintendo in house games (Link, Mario, etc) and hand helds so they decided they have no other option then to make their next console totally absurd to pull in the "I like it because it's different even if it sucks" crowd.
You know, like Mac did.
Also, that controller looks like a really craptastic platform for a game interface.

Nintendo said they're taking a new approach. Resident Evil was just the beginning of how they're changing their line-up and somewhere I thought I read no more Mario Party's. They're straying away from just the "fun gameplay"

Way to go Nintendo, it almost seems like your trying to drive yourself into the ground. Is "Wii" even a word, or does it stand for something?
It has a motion or gyro or something sensor in it. For first person shooter games, you can hold the controller like a gun and aim and shoot. For (American) football games, you can "throw" the controller to throw a pass.
I can see a lot of TV screens getting damaged when it slips out...

I think they said red, black, white, silver, and blue a few months ago. If anything, I'm getting the red one if they make it. I have a black gamecube and it's pretty cool. I like the semi-gloss/satin colors more than these new shiny high gloss ones.

I'm getting a good laugh though because Sony turned around at their E3 event and put the motion sensor control thing from the Wii controler into their PS3 controler. So now it's funny watching all the gaming forums argue over who stole what and so on.

I think after this catastrophic failure Nintendo will finally realize they now only belong in the handheld system world. The NES was IT, they grasped onto something great and then let it slide by, falling behind in making good consoles that attract the masses. Just look at Sega and their demise.

and why the hell Wii???
Have you ever heard an asian try to say the word "Revolution"?
I think the Gyro Idea for the controller should have come out a long time ago. I think Nintendo did the right thing by going for mass appeal, not strictly gamers. That said, I'll never buy one. I'm ready to drop 600 bones on the Black PS3 come Fall. I would only get the Fagbox 360 for Halo 3, Gears of War, or Quake Wars.

in my twisted little mind the only good nintendo console was the 64........but till i can find one and every single james bond game that came out for it i'm just gonna stick with my ps2
i agree :) except the best games were mariokart and perfect dark. other good ones were 1080 snowboarding and Rush. partly cuz those are the only video games i've ever learned to play but oh well.

The N64 games will be available for download on the Wii, so you can play all your favorite classics.
As far as the gyro controller goes, it's been used in the arcades for years.

i don't think that! i was more referring to the newest consoles (systems?) being white. isn't the xbox360 white too? they come in black and grey too. right? they should come in pink...cuz pink is the best color ever. :iceslolan
Pink's not a color.. its the first sign of the Fjortis- epedemic.
Nevermind.
