Front Oxygen Location On a 2.4 Engine?

(Please note this questions is for a "2.4" engine not a 2.0)

Is it in the engine bay or is it located somewhere underneath?

Any one have a picture of its location?

they have 2. One before the downpipe, and one after the cat.

check right behind the fan on the front. When I changed mine it was there. Right on the downpipe. The wiring goes off to the left of the engine bay. It's colors do not match up with the autozone replacement. Make sure thats what it is because mine threw a code for that sensor and it was really my cat that was bad.

Also make sure the downpipe ground is still on. Crawl under the car and check. That also apparently effects it.

Thanks Nova but I cant really confirm that it's bad. My car is running rich and after having changed the wires, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter with no change someone on the forums recommended changing the the front o2 sensor which I hear when faulty does cause a car to run rich and may not throw a code.

That would be correct. What type of mileage are you getting, and what type of plugs did you throw in (and what did you gap them at)?

I'm currently getting about 190mpg city driving on a full tank (on a 2.4. GS engine). I used NGK sparks. If I recall correctly I didnt gap them because I believe they were already factory gapped. However I've been having the gas mileage problem prior to giving it a tune up.

I said MPG, not miles per tank. The gas gauge is off, so you need to fill it up, set the trip odometer, drive it down to when you think it's getting close to empty, then fill it full again and see how many gallons you dump in. Then get a real number to compare to.

The plugs do not usually come pre-gapped specific to your vehicle, they gap them at some common gap used by a few vehicles, and hope its close to yours. Pull them and re-gap them to the specs for your vehicle.

Your right. i'm sorry. I'm getting roughly 12mpg. In reference to the plugs I'll do that but the issues with the gas has been a problem even before I gave the car a tune up.

Incidentally, I found what I believe to be the location of the front O2 Sensor, However, I ran into a couple of problems that maybe some one on the forum can help me out with, first of which the location of the o2 is near the bottom end, underneath the headers. Upon inspecting the one that is currently installed with the one I purchased (Denso OEM 234-4638), I noticed the one I purchased from Denso which was supponse to be OEM for a 2.4 engine is much shorter than the one currently installed, i wont fit! Additionally the Denso's O2 harness that is suppose to snap into the car's harness is a male when it should be a female. WTF, I dont get it??? Anyone else have this problem?

I think you have the wrong one... Go back and make sure it's right. When I got my denso also it didn' thave a harness. I had to cut the factory one and wire my new one in. And no the colors of the wires didn't match.
