Some Maintenance....

got a 99 montana ext.(94,000 miles) and we are leaving on vacation within the month so i want to start now on some maintenance. I ususally do the tire rotation, air filter change, oil change right before i leave. but i want to change the tranny fluid/filter, replace the cabin filter, fuel filter. Its been a long time since i did a tranny fluid change but that was on an S-10 truck. I have never did a tranny change on the Montana. Any helpful tips? Any helpful tips on the fuel filter change? is there a pressure release valve inthe engine comparment? thanks

Transmission fluid is messy, but not difficult. Just loosen the bolts, let it drain, remove the pan and gasket, then the filter. Clean up everything checking the magnet for any noticable sized pieces of metal. It likely will be covered in a greasy grey substance. That's your transmission ;) Reverse to reinstall.
The fuel filter is easy to get at and doesn't require any special tools really. You can release the fuel pressure at the test port, but then a little gas will spray in the engine compartment. It's easier and cleaner to just remove the fuel pump fuse and try to start the engine. As soon as it dies (if it even starts), you can remove the filter as it's not under pressure. Gas will still run out of the lines through.

where exactly is this test port(schrader valve)?

It is on the passenger side top of the motor, find the power steering pump and look towards the fire wall you will see a little black cap. Unscrew the cap and there you have it.
Although I would agree about using the fuel pump fuse method, it will save you the mess!

Unscrew the cap and there you have it.Being a little more specific, it's on the rear fuel rail end on the passenger side. After you remove the protective cap, it will look very similar to a tire valve stem. Just push in on the little pin in the middle. Be aware that fuel is likely to be under pressure and will squirt out.
