88 stalls at stops, computer? valve? help!!.

i am new to jeeps and i am going to pick mine up tuesday and the problem is the guy says it runs fine except when you come to a stop it stalls , he has replaced all vacume lines and now thinks it is the computer or a vacume valve of some sort , any input is apprciated,its a 88 wrangler hopefully a comon problem i can fix easily..i now some jeep geek has the answers:grinyes: also he says that when it is first running in the morning it wont stall,.. until its warmed up, 6cyl.4.2 thanks , rob doggy dog

I could be wrong, but wouldn't an 88 be a carbed engine, and therefore, not have a computer?

O.K. I TALKED TO THE OWNER TODAY AND SAID HE ALREADY TRIED THE CARB. CLEANING TRICK WITH THE IDLE TUBES THING AND THAT WASNT IT. ANY OTHER IDEAS:icon16:

I don't know if is the same in a 88, but a friend's 87 has a computer (that most regular mechanics didn't know about) under ther windshield washer resevoir. It was a source of similar problems.

thanks for the info i talked to autozone and said if i bring it to them they can test the resistance on it and tell me if it is bad , but i am going to start with that little black box called electronic ignition control module located under the windshield washer reservior, thanks for the input:ylsuper:

Well $14 later and about 2 hours , i rebuilt my carb and it idles fine the venturi tubes were clogged , the ones you see when look down the carb that have brass looking ends , they looked clear but actualy were just built up in that same shape just smaller hole:banghead: , also it passed smog!:iceslolan ,i did have that elect. ignition control module tested at auto zone for free it only takes a minute to remove the 3 screws from under nieth the driverside wheel well below the washer fluid tank , thanks guys!!:rofl:
