Hello All:
I have again borrowed my father's TC and discovered yet another anomoly. When using the right turn signal, occasionally the flasher will click at twice the speed as normal. When this happens, both the right front turn signal bulb and the right dashboard arrow will fail to illuminate. Play with the stalk a little and normal operation will return. The same thing occurs when operating the emergency flashers.
I believe we have a turn signal/flasher switch block in the steering column that is starting to fail. Is there anything else I should look at first before attempting to replace the switch block? Also, how difficult is it to remove the steering wheel and replace this switch myself. Any input would be appreciated.

Why it flashing that fast then? Shouldn't it be going 1/2 speed?
And its going to be a pain, i would think, to get under there and fix it. If you want some town-car specific forums try http://www.lincolnsonline.com/

my 95 town car sometimes does the EXACT same thing. however, with the right turn signal, if i like hit the stalk too hard thats when the arrow doesnt blink and the turn signal in the front doesn't either. but when i push it down gently it does not do this. now with the flashers, all i do is wiggle the flasher button a little and then the right flasher starts to work again. so i would agree that it is something in the steering column but with my car it is just a nuissance that happens only once every blue moon

Its nice to know that we are not the only ones out there with the annoying problem. I guess we will just live with it until it fails completely. My father is considering having the switch replaced by the Lincoln Dealer. If he does so, so be it.
