Replacing O2 Sensor-'89 Le Sabre

I'm getting an increasingly bad sulphur smell at idle. Replaced the catalytic converter (180,000 miles) and keep a clean air filter, but the smell persists.

Does anybody have experience with this, and does the Oxygen Sensor sound like the way to target this problem?

Also, if it the 02 sensor, is it a difficult replacement?

The O2 prolly needs to be repalced anyway it if hasn't been done in a while. It is really easy too. You can either rent a special socket for it from Autozone or similar, or you can just use a 22mm open face wrench and twist if off. I recommend that you pop your hood and sit on your knees on the passenger side fender so that you can reach it (it is screwed into the manifold just before it mounts to the rest of your exhaust leading to your cat). Also, avoid buying a Bosch 02--although not as critical as plugs, Bosch O2's really shouldn't go into a GM 3800.

Is the sulphur smell coming from the exhaust tip or from the engine bay?

The sulfur smell is coming from an overheated converter caused by too rich a mixture. Unless the underlying cause is found, the cat will be destroyed again. Possible causes are fuel pressure too high, sticking injectors, maf sensor, oxygen sensor, etc. You need to get it checked very soon or otherwise another cat...
