Yeah it's called advancing the timing. You can get some pretty impressive gains by doing it but with sacrifices.

If you advance the timing without remapping fuel delivery and ignition firing, your emissions and fuel ecnomy will go to poo.

I had an si non vtec and when I got my cam gears the shop that installed them advanced the timing 4 degrees. I dont know if that is a lot but I could feel a big different in the high rpm range.

Sounds like it had longer vavle duriation which would significantly offer some noticeable power. Most people do between 3 - 5 degrees without any fuel mapping or tuning of the motor. Sometimes advancing the timing can actually help an engine out a lot and offer a smooth overall.

You don't have to rag on people dude. If they're wrong then they're wrong, who cares ? someone who knows better will correct them and get the right info to the person in need.

Well me and my brother just finish putting the cam gears, water pump and timing belt on. let me tell you it alot of work:banghead: Trying to get those points right was a pain. I did not adjust the timing, until i buy some camshaft. I have to save up some money though.

I would only max it out with skunks stage 2's for n/a.
Yeah setting the timing is a pain in the ass lol..I did it many times over by myself on my B20A5 DOHC prelude...rough times lol.

Alright its been 1 week since i did my timing belt aan cam gears. I have a problem, the timing belt seems to be loose. Every time i give it gas the belt hits the bottom cover side to side. What could be the problem?
