ok, so it's been a while since i've driven a standard transmission vehicle. now i have a '95 geo tracker (16v) and though i've gotten back into the swing of shifting i'm wondering what everyone else's rpm's are when they're shifting. i find myself shifting around 4k but my manual says to shift around 20-30mph to 2nd and such... i just don't want to over rev the engine and increase wear on the tranny. just not too sure how beefy these little buggers are. oh i love my new ride btw :D

Depends on how your car drives.. I dont have a tach I do it by feel or sound. I gots the 2wd version.
But really for gas mileage shift between 2-3K rpm if your not going uphill and aren't loaded. For speed  shift in the 3-4K rpm.
