Hi,

I have a Chevy Cavalier (manual 2.2) that sometimes it turns off, Let’s say you drive for about 30 mins and the car loses the power, you try Giving gas and gas and it doesn’t do anything, so to get it working again You have to turn it off then back on. Sometimes when are waiting at the Red light it turns off for no reason, it doesn’t make noises or anything wrong That you can tell right away what’s the problem. It’s been with this problem For about 2 months, the same thing over and over about 3 to 5 times per day.

Something weird is that if it’s a cold day or raining the car doesn’t faint, but if It’s hot the problems shows up.

BTW, no check engine light on, I have replaced coil packs, ignition mod, fuel filter, spark plugs, ignition wires, and had a injector cleanning. Still no help.:banghead:

If someone has had any experience like this one or knows what’s going? Please let me know.
Thanks a lot.

no it's not your cranksensor'' i have the same car'' that could be your tps or your temp sensor or your intake temp sensor and your egr. thos things can make you car stall when hot. because your ecm computer tells it is getting hot change thos and it should go away.

when it dies, does it always start right back up?? or do you sometimes have to wait 20-30 mins???

also, if it was a sensor, any sensor, wouldnt that cause the check engine light to come on?

Wow, that sounds pretty darn close to whats going on w/ my '96 sunfire 2.2l.

I myself have changed the iac, iat, ect, tps, map sensors. Sound like crappy troubleshooting huh!? Well everytime I changed a sensor it would run great, I would think the car was fix'd and move on. Only to have it do it again,
(hesitate and/or stall). I changed the fuel filter, the fuel pump, and egr valve.everytime it helped some more. The MIL would illum. sometimes, but mostly not.(code p0172)

(A little history, the previous owner changed the computer and f/i's.). I checked and found no vacuum leaks!

Long story short, My wifes friend who works for goodyear auto. for many years now, tells me the crankshaft position sensor will sometimes leak oil through it (thats a bad long term thing) and very well cause stalling problems.(mostly when hot).

Well, When I get the car back, I can let anyone who's interested know how it went.
well, thats my :2cents:
