If I ever get around to buying my next car, Ill consider the 97-01 Prelude. What I need to know is if you guys are happy with the car in general, in terms of power, handling, ease to work on, mileage, etc. And anything you really hate about it. My friend had one awhile back but I wasnt ready to buy. Id like to stick with Honda and since the Prelude has near 200hp VTEC 2.2(correct me if im wrong) I think the power would be more than enough. I have a 96 Civic now, and while I love it, its just too slow for me. I mean just driving the highway is almost difficult because of the lack of power. I just want something a little sportier and comfortable.
So anyway, just tell your pros and cons of the Prelude.

Haha..with all that money invested in your Civic you could have Turboed a prelude and got some kick ass power.
The Vtec H22 prelude is one mean mother ****** basically. It seems to have perfect balance for length and weight to power ratio..People seriously underestimate the Vtec preludes..which is sad =(
If you get a Prelude with a H22 motor..you'd be ready to give your civic away however the EK9 isn't a bad vehicle either. Don't underestimate the tuneability of a civic hatchback. Why not drop a H22 in it and have a serious sleeper ?

I dunno. Id rather have something thats a little better to start with. I really do like the EK hatches so I might still get one instead. I was thinking of putting either a B18C1 or C5 into the hatch. If the C1, I would turbo it, and the C5 probably do a few bolt ons, and maybe cams, etc. Im not looking for alot of power at this stage, just something fun. Once im making enough money I can start moving up in terms of power. I think a hatch with 200hp would be awesome. The H22 is a good choice too. Well first I need to get out of college so I have some money:icon16:

Well I must say the prelude is an awsome car and can provide you with all the 'Fun' needs you have as far as speed, acceleration , cornering, over all handling and smooth ride . THe 4th and 5th gens are like the complete package waiting to be customized to your specific liking :)

The only bad thing I have to say about the prelude is, the small tires. Although it's probably for more aerodynamics, better mileage, and all that, at first it looked kinda goofy, but all that doesn't matter. It's a pretty nice car. I recently bought a 98 lude, and I am pretty satisfied with it. Even though it's basically a two seater. I don't really like to carry more than one other person in my car anyways, but that's besides the point. The fifth gen. lude has pretty nice looks, reasonably good mileage, and a pimpin' motor. 195 hp from and inline four! W00T. And people think imports don't have power.

Only downside i would say about the 97-01 preludes is that there kinda on the heavy side.
